Adams Idea Pro vs. A3 Boxer?

For low cap higher speeds...

I'm going to take the plunge on an Adams hybrid this year. Deciding between the Idea Pro and the new A3 boxer... I'm a 1-2 hcp 110+ ss player and finding demo clubs with x-shafts in my area is near impossible. So any input is appreciated.

I really like the look of the boxer over the Idea Pro, but the Idea Pro has such a strong following, there must be a reason... I've only had 1 hybrid previously, a Titleist 585h 19* with V2 stiff. The shaft was just way too soft and I was too gun shy with that club to even use it under pressure. Fades and draws were slices and hooks with it...

Looking for the 18* or 20*.

Personally, I carry 2 Idea Pro hybrids. I've hit the boxer and they were good. I felt like the Idea Pro set up more square to my eye. I have VS Protos in mine and think it might be the best hybrid shaft I've hit. With your swing speed, I would have to wonder what help you might be looking for? If you are in need of forgiveness the boxers may be a little better but for overall playability, I think the Idea Pro might be the better fit.

I love my pro... very workable and doesn't have draw bias like so many others. Never hit the boxer though.

I think next years Pro will have a box shape, not sure when release is set. I remeber seeing a picture someplace. They are changing the Idea Pro Irons a little as well.

You might also want to consider the A2 hybrid, which is available in 18 & 20 * with the Aldila NV shaft. It looks like a larger version of the Pro-less sleek, but more forgiving.

As another poster said... the Proto shaft in the Pro is one of the best there is... with the boxer or A2, you would sacrafice this.

I want the hybrid to bridge between the 4i (215-220) and 3w (260-275), so ideally about 240 with a lowish trajectory (live in a windy area).

I'd like to hit an idea pro 18* with the VS Proto 95 x... Sounds like that may be what I'm looking for. Just wondering if the a3 is a better design due to MOI improvements. Might have to wait for the new idea pro as well...

The A3 boxers are hard to beat for forgiveness. Probably the class of the field in that regard. The A3s are workable, but the pro is probably more so. The Prolaunch red shaft in the A3 is an excellent shaft. I'm not knocking the Proto hybrid shaft. I love it in my driver and have played it in a hybrid. However, the prolaunch red, for many, is going to be more of a anti-left shaft than the VS Proto hybrid shaft. By the way, it looks like just about everything Adams has planned for the future involves some spin on the Boxer High MOI Technology. There is a reason for that. It really works.

sounds like you want a pro. I have the 3 and get about 230 out of it with probally the best boring trajectory i've ever seen, and my swing speed pretty much tops out @ 110

Idea Pro is a lower launching solid hybrid that is a great 5 wood replacement IMHO, but the lofts available did not fit for me to replace my 3 iron with it. One was too long, the next was too short ... too close to my 4 iron. The boxer would have fit better for iron replacement in my bag. The boxer is also more forgiving, but higher launching.

I think you should go with the Pro. I personally switch back and forth between the Idea Pro and 585H depending on course conditions. The Pro gives me a much lower ball flight which might be what you're looking for. My swing speed is about 112-113 and I hit the 20 deg Pro about 235 with a carry of about 225. I think you may hit it just a bit further considering your 4 iron yardages, mine are about 210-215.

214 - 4i(strong loft at 23 degrees)

225 - hybrid(585H higher trajectory, softer landing)

or

235 - hybrid(Adams Idea Pro lower trajectory, runs out)

245 - 5wood

265 - 3wood

Sorry I can't help you with a review of the boxer but I need more playability not forgiveness.
