That is an absolute joke LOL. If he beats a handful of guys he should take it as a huge success.

You’re really underestimating how bad the bottom 1/3 of LIV is. It’s just guys in their late 40s/early 50s plus Ogletree, Danny Lee, etc.

I just think it is important to keep the context in mind of what Greg Norman wanted to design in the 1990s.  He had a vision of a global tour, not one that is segregated by continent, which is currently how the PGA and DP World Tours are done.  Yes, there are some bleed overs for signature events, but by and large, unless they live in the US the Euro players still on their side of the Atlantic and the American's stay on their side. That is what LIV is trying to do, to create a tour where players from all over the world are on equal ground and able to compete with another on golf courses that are found in different countries. 

 

At any rate, I still think that while LIV did pay to have a roster, many of these guys were and still are great players and I don't get the "they can't compete" rhetoric that is rampant on social media when it comes to LIV.  The majors, OWGR pre-split tell a completely different story.  I have added the list of the OWGR for each LIV player that I could find around the time they made the jump as well and you can see for yourself the majority of them were highly ranked.

I went to a LIV tournament a few weeks ago. I don't think it's what Norman envisioned at all.  Loud music blasting on the tee boxes and music playing while your 'grinding' over a 6 footer for par in front of very small crowds? I don't think the players  necessarily love that but I do think they like playing less golf and knowing that they are getting paid no matter what. I liked watching Anthony Kim back in the day. From what I remember, LIV sounds like a very good fit for him.

Interesting storyline, but why they would do this for an event in Jeddah is mind boggling.  I could maybe understand if this was his "home" market timezone, but relegating this story to an event is difficult for a US based market to watch makes very little sense.  Perhaps it provides some cover if he doesn't play well?

AK has been doing god knows what.

 

I dont care how bad his results have been, I'll give the edge to a guy like Danny Lee over a guy that had one great year 16 years ago and just walked in off the street.

 

The more I think about it - IMO - I think its lose-lose for LIV. If AK plays great, someone is going to question the quality of the fields when a guy can roll out of a 15 year absence and finish well. If he bombs, well, he bombs.

Haha, that was my golf attire of preference until I was probably about 23 or so and I was home visiting and heading out to meet my dad at the course and my mom suggested nicely I might consider something other than the gym shorts and tee shirt and Converse high tops I'd worn to play basketball at the Y the day before.  The smile on Dad's face when I showed up to join him and two of his buddies told me what I needed to know (and if I'd shown up in the gym clothes, he'd have said nothing - sometimes it's down to Mom!).

Loved AK back in the day and was hype when the rumors of his comeback started but now that he's decided to go to LIV about 99% of my hype has gone away. Maybe I'll tune in this week but I doubt it. LIV is just boring AF to watch. Still wish him all the best and hope he still has the game to compete.

There are enough really good players on LIV even if the fields are really small to compare their scores on the course to AK and judge how he is doing. I mean if he is keeping up with DJ, Brookes etc. scores then he isn't doing too bad.

Part of the appeal was he the next Tiger sort of figure and that he was in his early to mid 20s so the potential was endless in terms of majors etc. Now he wouldn’t even get in the majors and on the semi-retirement circus tour. Definitely some curiosity for a few weeks but he’s 38 now and if he shoots 75 and 76s it will get old fast.
