Likely soon. BDC and Norman are continually whining about the OWGR yet they won't follow that roadmap and make changes the OWGR board laid out for them last fall to get points. What will look worse for LIV -AK comes in plays great and whips some  $&@. Or he plays mediocre/poorly and he’s a quick footnote. Either way it’s not a good look for them. Maybe he played a round with some of the LIVers while they were playing in Vegas and they decided to take a gamble on him

Interested to see how much the PGA entertained the idea of bringing AK back (if at all)?  I remember listening to the SupPar podcast when the AK comeback was still just a rumor and there was speculation he was in talks with both tours.

TGC stated today that the PGA Tour was in talks with AK before he ultimately decided to go the LIV route.  Who knows if that is true or not🤷

The big winner this week will be the insurance company........they are getting the $10 million insurance money back from Kim (or whatever the dollar amount is).

 

Of course, this is assuming there really was an insurance payout and Kim now has to pay back the money.......who knows 🥸

I am genuinely curious to see how he plays.  Probably won't watch live due to the time difference.  Haven't had much interest in LIV this year until I heard about this.

Unless the PGA Tour made up new rules/circumstances just for AK to come back his only way back into PGA Tour events would be past champions status or sponsor exemptions. Then he would have to make cuts as usual to win money. Past champ status would be tough to get in as he likely would be at the bottom of that category that has many many players and which itself is low on the priority ranking categories. Category 36 of 39. 

 

He took the easiest path back to professional with the mercenary tour with some guaranteed money with incentives. Good for him. It's been reported that he was contracted to play 3 events to start with and will be a field filler with Hudson Swafford and not part of a team.

It should be noted that no actual details are known about AK insurance policy, and the original person who wrote about it in 2014 was none other than "never actually reveals any sources Alan Shipnuck."  It was yet another of his pieces where "somebody close said....." and that getting taken as pure fact.  The same piece also included such TMZ-level crap as he hadn't been seen at his favorite strip club, he had grown out his hair and looks like a hobo, and a waitress at a lunch spot he frequents said he was a good tipper.  

 

These types of insurance policies have become much more normal, especially for top college athletes who are weighing the option of returning to a senior year or going pro in contact sports like football and basketball.  Many have time out clauses.

I get it if he plays mediocre/poorly, but not sure how an “AK comes in plays great” equates to a bad look for them?  I think the PGA would take the gamble too.  
 

I don’t think there’s any doubt he’ll move the viewership needle (more so if he went PGA).

 

Golf is a fickle pickle as we all know.  You can go from winning a tournament, to finished DFL your next start, to tying the likes of Justin Thomas at Riviera missing the cut at +3 !  Poor Nick, I was really rooting for that kid!

I hope it comes with a daily interest accrual of 10% for Kim to pay back. If he has to do that through PIF, I would consider it blood money. What a start to his comeback!

Was it a black eye on the pga tour when a 20 year old amateur won a tournament?  Anyone can spin any story to make it negative or positive.  I’m looking at Kim’s return as a positive regardless what happens.  A perfect story for him would be to improve each tournament he plays until he competes for wins.  That would make for a fun story line.  If he plays bad, oh well.  He tried.  There’s no denying the talent level on LIV so people using that argument are just haters and are not willing to debate in reality.

I don't really care one way or the other about AK...the only thing that was unique about him was that he wore a flashy buckle, showed a little attitude and allegedly liked to have a good time...somehow that made him interesting, which tells you more about the average PGA tour player than AK himself!

 

Personally, I'm looking forward to the "El Pato" return...he was always one of my favorite players to watch.

Return to what?  He just finished T27 on Champions Tour this past weekend.  Not bad for a guy who spent more time playing hand ball vs golf the last few years.
