Hank Haney sounds like a dream crusher.

Having to coach Charles Barkley would turn anyone into a pessimist.

I was thinking about this too. Could he still have a valid major medical exemption from over a decade ago? To my knowledge he was injured and never returned.

He has past champion status and would be eligible for unlimited sponsors exemptions.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

He moves the needle? Maybe for guys on golf forums who pretend to have watched him play but in reality were only 12 years old the last time he won...I'm kidding...mostly. But for every guy who actually remembers watching him play there are two that only ever watched highlights but are jumping on the bandwagon. And thats totally fine.

But I'll stick to my position that he has no chance and be pleasantly surprised if he does.

Justin Thomas has ~20 wins and 2 majors. He completely lost it last year and couldnt hit water if he fell out of a boat - and he didnt actually GO anywhere. AK hasnt been between the ropes in 12 years and people think he could contend or just walk into the Top 50?

I’m not sure he walks in and contends or cracks the top 50 again.  I should have clarified that at one point he was exciting to watch play.  His game may be completely gone. Idk but I am interested to see if he comes back and can play at high level.

I’m not sure what the excitement is about. AK was a good player a dozen or more years ago - but was not Scheffler, McIlroy, or Koepka like. He was a very good player and won three times, no majors. If he pops out on the PGAT he’s wiggle the needle for a couple of events and then we’ll see. If he starts winning, or at least contending, maybe he’ll still be a story by May 1. Personally, I think he is better suited for LIV - less competition and guaranteed money, at least for a year.

100%, AK won 3 times. He had a great Masters and great Ryder Cup. He is eligible for sponsors exemptions on the PGA Tour just like the rest of us, but I'm not sure that 2 year win exemption is still valid. He only moved the needle because he wore white belts and was full of himself. He was exciting to watch, but I wouldn't call 3 wins moving any needles. The PGA Tour is on its heels now and I'd be willing to bet rules will change to get him back. I'm afraid it would be a Kaepernick story though. Made cuts may be considered success now.

He signed with LIV so won’t be sniffing anything of consequence via OWGR.

LIV wants a splash and a sideshow. Got another one - it will be short lived. He got money he apparently needed but I kind of feel sorry for the guy. At least there’s no real competitive pressure.

LIV has two flex spots per tournament this season—no need to give him guaranteed money until they know how he can play.  Without guaranteed money, Ak is likely best served, by leveraging past winning status and sponsor exemptions.  If he does have the game, he has options, including waiting for the new agreement between the tours.

If its true that his insurance clause says he has to pay back in full if he ever tees it up again - why in the world would he agree to do this? IMO he's not going to show up anywhere and grind it out unless he is paid in full.

I wouldn't be surprised if we hear in a couple days this was all BS and it was started with one random tweet that was then retweeted a million times and got everyone excited.

Very true, this all could be for nothing.  Do we know what that insurance policy's terms are or AK's current financial position?

It feels like HBO is about to announce the return of Entourage.

No one here knows. Just like no one knows how his game is. The closest any of us has come is seeing on Twitter someone posting something from TikTok that their best friends cousins stock broker saw him at the range and he was STRIPING it.

Thats it. Thats the list of what anyone of us knows for sure lol.

Give it 6 months.   Poor guy will probably pull a Hope Solo.  They will find Anthony sitting in parking lot with his old Nike clubs.

Signing a guy that hasn't played professional golf in TWELVE years would be... quite the publicity stunt, I've gotta say.

Doesn't do much for the idea that LIV is a serious golf league, but definitely makes headlines. We'll see what LIV finds more important.

agree 100%.... I dont see how anthony kim would NOT finish dead last in every outing
