The flashiness of the MLM 2 is wearing off on me. Still think it'll be great for what it is. But between locking spin behind a paywall and no club/path data, it may not be the industry disrupter it's being made out to be.

I totally agree. I was initially very excited about the MLM2, but have since crossed it off my list because of those exact reasons.

Personally, I think the Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro will be way better than the Garmin and for the price point it will be an excellent buy.  I have the Garmin now and it got better with the RCT ball, but still not perfect on Spin.  The Rapsodo looks to have spin well under control but there will be some time till they perfect it.  The VC SC4 however is very intriguing and I have to say it will be an excellent competitor in this space.  I just don’t think we will see anything from VC until the fall.

How's the dispersion with the r10? I see some videos of a slice showing a draw or vice versa.

The dispersion with the R10 is pretty good.  There is certainly enough direct feedback that I would say 98% of the shots reflect how I hit the ball.  For some reason, on 5 irons and 4 hybrid, it shows those shots as always slice right when I know for sure they are not always a slice like that.  Seeing as this is a forum on the SC4, we could probably move this R10 conversation over to Garmin topic

Why is GSPro superior?

The course rendering looks better.  There is a whole bunch of great independent course designers that are contributing their work to the platform so you end up with over 300+ courses to choose from that include many of the courses that are played on the PGA tour.  Its kinda cool to watch the pros play in Scottsdale and then go out and play that course in my garage.  The other thing is the thinking that you have to do like you are on a real course.  E6 does not take into account (I think this is so) regarding the lie angle of the ball.  So if the ball is below your feet on E6 it flies as if its a flat lie where as on GSPro it will fly right a little bit.  Closer mirroring the course play.  And lastly, its only $250 a year which is less than the E6 at $300 and that only gets you about 20 courses.

So the Voice Caddie Facebook page is showing the new range finder being released on Monday. Still no video of actual working unit and it seems to be a curiously vague item that even the manufacturers are not advertising or promoting. I don't even think there was a working unit at the PGA show as there were no videos showing anybody hitting balls like the new Rapsodo MLM2 Pro.

Has anybody seen any videos other than the very short Voice Caddie one. Mr Shortgame did seem to handle a unit at the PGA Show but that as far as I know is all that is out there.

What are Voice Caddie up to because if this unit is any good you would think they would be all over the place making everybody aware. Is it going to be much of an advance from either the SC300 or the SC300i? My inclination is to go for the Rapsodo as I'm not convinced that the SC4 is going to cut-it. My only reservation on the Rapsodo is that spin will only be measured using the Callaway RPT ball when I'm a Bridgestone user.

Not only do you have to use the Callaway RPT balls but you must pay the yearly $200 subscription fee to get spin.

That's a laser rangefinder, not the launch monitor unit.

I think his point was that they are advertising the laser rangefinder and NOT the launch monitor, which doesn't inspire confidence.

I think it's crazy the MLM2 requires a subscription for spin numbers and that's dumb. Out of pure annoyance I don't think I'd buy a MLM2. Right now, unless voice caddie has a confirmed release date or a working prototype, I think the Garmin R10 makes the most sense.

No kidding.  I pointed out upthread that the SC4 is basically vaporware, with no working model shown, displayed or reviewed anywhere.

HAHAHA! I love a good rivalry... and I think we all know who should have won that football game in December. My eyeballs said the tip of the football passed the goal line before it came out... but again, I might be biased 🙂

I agree 100% and am in the exact same spot. I don't know of any other LM that locks ball data behind a paywall. Super slimy.

The ironic thing is, I'd very likely pay the $200 year subscription for the added features (simulation, combine, etc.). But simply out of principle, I'm passing for now due to the spin metrics being locked out for "basic" users.

Anyone have both SC300i and R10 comparison? Would love to know accuracy.

I had each one on the 60 day trial offered by PlayBetter. Both worked well outdoors hitting into a net and were accurate enough for my practice needs. The R10 was a much better value given how much more it offers for not that much more money. The nice thing about the SC300i was simplicity - just turn it on, set it down and start hitting. The downside for any radar unit for my setup is with short irons and wedges. Similar to indoor swing syndrome, I can’t make myself take a full swing when 8’ from the net for fear of sending the ball over the net.

How easy was the return through PlayBetter when doing the trial runs? Considering doing the same with the MLM 2 and SC4 when they come available.

Super easy. I also tested Skytrak through PlayBetter. They don’t make it hard at all - the Exchange/Return link is on the front page of their website. Just enter in your order number and it walks you through everything. And they’ll offer you a store credit for more than you paid if you elect the credit over a refund.

Great to know. That's pretty cool about the store credit thing. Makes me think it'd make more sense to try one at a time. As opposed to buying a bunch and keeping the one you want.

**Release Date: Still around middle of April. It’s real.

Nice! Where'd you verify this info?

FWIW, I saw a rumor going around that the Rapsodo was having issues with their MLM 2 Pro tripod or something. But they've denied that and said they're still on target to start shipping them at the end of the month.

After SC4, the company is eyeing on 1k sim market. Anyway, I always think voice caddy products are a bit gimmicky though I bought three products from them (my last purchase was their first personal launch monitor years ago). Hope they made some progress. Oh, just found out that they bought Super Stroke.

I don't know about gimmicky. Maybe behind the curve. In that this will be their first to have any sort of simulation or even 3d rendering (AFAIK). But from what I recall, a lot of the YT channels I trust to be fairly unbiased were very impressed with the data accuracy of the sc300i.

While a lot of the buzz seems to be centered around the MLM 2 Pro. The SC4 could be a real dark-horse. Unless the MLM 2 Pro is significantly better in regards to data accuracy, the SC4 seems like it'll be a much better value. Cheaper retail price, and no forced subscription if you want to actually get all the ball data.

I agree that it’s not gimmicky. I have the sc300i and love that I can just set it up and hit. The biggest selling point was the built-in screen so no fiddling with my phone, and the app it integrates with is decent enough to go back later and look at your data at home. Any launch monitor that requires a separate device (phone) to see the data is automatically a no-go for me.

I’m very excited about this SC4, it seems to have a much larger radar and positioned higher. That should help with the only issue have with the sc300i which is missed shots with the driver.
