New Voice Caddie SC4 Launch Monitor

I pre-ordered the SC4. Hopefully it actually ships in 4-5 weeks as listed.

Yes, exactly. I really want to see how the spin numbers work in this device. At the moment, I have a GC3 on loan from a buddy - to be honest, I hardly use it since it's range balls that I hit the most and I don't have a net to hit into using my real balls. Based on this, I am in no hurry plus I have access to his GC4 if needs be.

So the voice caddie Korea instagram announced the official drop date for the sc4 as the 24th of this month and while it is the Korea instagram the company is Korea based and it seems that they don't have different drop dates for different countries.

ok so if you want up to date info on the sc4 and the sl3 I'd suggest going to the voice caddie korea instagram according to that page the release date is going to be the 24th of this month and the dates they have usually line up with u.s releases aswell. this video is like a preview add.

I was under the impression the sc300i worked well and was one of the best sub $500 launch monitors. Is that not the case?

I don't think the comment was inferring the SC300i was bad. Instead that it was solid in its own right. And if the SC4 was even better, it'd be an absolute home run.

hopefully something changed in the tech to make it more accurate than the previous models which were pretty bad

Most reviews I've seen didn't complain about the sc300i's accuracy on ball and club speed.

Very interesting. Slightly sceptical about the launch direction metric, doesn't seem to indicate shot shape? I know you can see where the ball finishes on the app but shot shape maybe assumed straight all the time?

I owned a sc300i and I was very impressed with its accuracy. Easy to set up, easy to read and best part was you don't need a phone. The only glitch I experienced was it would miss Driver shots periodically. Other than the Sim abilities of my R10, I enjoyed the sc300i more for outside range work.

so they just started pre orders on the voice caddie website and say they'd start shipping the 24th and I noticed that the sc4 has more measured parameters than the sc300i but the sc300i's measurable range is 10-370 yards but the sc4 is a bit more unclear as to how large its range is. The specs on the add sheet say 20-360 carry but then when you go to the specs tab it says 10-370, not sure what that means but its interesting.

I decided to pre-order this out of the blue today. The website says that pre-orders placed between 4/12-4/19 will ship on 4/24. 

 

I have been pondering between this and the MLM2PRO. I have experience with the Full Swing Kit and Garmin R10, and the SC4 intrigues me. I like that you do not need an external device such as your phone while using the SC4. I have also seen complaints about having a remote, but to be honest it is a great feature. I like that you can set the club and the loft of your club. This should allow the algorithm that they use to accurately calculate the data within their specified limits. 

 

I have two sets of clubs where one 7i is 32 degrees and in my other set it is 27 degrees. Being able to change the loft on the device is huge in my opinion. 

 

Rapsodo's subscription model turns me off quite a bit, as well as needing special golf balls. I plan on solely hitting into a net at my course and/or home, but do not want to buy $70/dozen golf balls in order to get the best data possible. 

 

Realistically to me the display on the SC4 reminds me of the FullSwing Kit, and the data should be reliable just like past SC monitors such as the 300i. Just think, if carry can be calculated to +/- 3%, you're going to be within 3-5 yards on most clubs. Driver will have slightly higher discrepancies, but how many of us really care if we carry it 240 or 248?

 

The shell of the device is also intriguing because the actual radar is the top half of the unit which should help pick up high flighted wedge shots as well as track the ball at longer distances if being used on the driving range.

 

I feel like Swing Caddie has had some great, reliable products for the price in the past, and this should be no different. I look forward to trying and reporting back. A buddy bought the MLM2PRO, so I will see if I can do some sort of comparison with his unit, as well as Trackman from my local shop.

I owned an SC300i and thought it was pretty good. My concern is how do you do simulation without spin axis?

agree

 

website says spin rate and launch direction,  but not spin axis which is the critical piece to connect those two data points 

 

no mention of rct balls either being a useful feature

Yea spin axis was important for me why I pre ordered a mlm2, if I was hitting at the range where I can see shot shape then id go with sc4 but setup indoors I want to work on dispersion

Disagree. It wasn't perfect but I had the SC300 (now dead) but it was quite accurate, within 2% of Trackman on my testing on full shots over several sessions. I found it struggled with pitch shots though. I'm going to buy this one to replace it.

One thing that this addresses is the awkwardness of setting up a launch monitor at the range. Especially when the range is packed and people waiting for spots. The fact that it’s drop and go basically is amazing.
