I work tomorrow and even have to work on Monday as there is a group known as the Southern Seniors that have rented BFCC out for their tournament. They are also playing while in town The Grove Park Inn and Walnut Cove. Deep pocketed county clubbers from all over the southeastern U.S.  So it will be Tuesday DMM when I get to break them in.

Has been a good year for me gents... Last year I had a stroke on July 28th, and missed the rest of the summer in recovery. The rehab nurses had asked me what my goals were. We could see the golf course out of the hospital window from the 6th floor, right across the street from my house. I told them I wanted to be able to play golf again as they were teaching me to walk again in therapy. Last Friday was my 'Strokeaversary' as my youngest daughter called it 🤣, fully recovered now, and here's a pic of me playing this spring as soon as I could get out 🤸‍♂️... the grass hadn't even grown in yet, but my score was me =1, stroke =0  👍

@SixtySomePing  Good for you SSP.  Been wondering how you've been getting on.  Getting back into the swing of things (pun intended).  Made me smile reading that you realized your goal.  Every time you "walk" onto the first tee, you win before even hitting the ball.  More importantly, regaining a measure of normalcy to each and every day.  Major props.

Not only this, but this year will be our 50th anniversary, I have been trying to get DW to play golf the entire time, since 1973. Well, this year she caved and decided to play, So she took lessons, I got her some new clubs (Ping Gle 2 irons, XXIO Driver), and now she is playing along with me... Never thought I'd see the day... 🤣🤷‍♂️

Exactly! I play the Isi 3 and 5 wood, love them! They can still be found on Ebay. I bought them when they were newly on the market. It's one of those "when they pry them out of my cold dead hands" things 🤣 They are like magic! Highly recommend!!!

Congrats on the 50th Anniversary.  Playing golf with the Mrs. = reaching the 51st is in jeopardy (JK).  I play with my Mrs. as well.  Occasionally.  She has her gal pals to play with, therefore absolving me of the responsibility.  But we get out for Sunday afternoon 9's periodically.  Never give the DW any "tips" (after 50, you already know this).  Even if she's lined up 45* to the target.  Don't say anything other than "nice shot".  

 

Nice starter set BTW.  Shall she be addressed as Mrs. Sixty Thirty Something Ping?

Congrats on the recovery, sounds like it was a big challenge, but getting the wife to finally play with you was probably harder, heck it only took 50 years!

Glad to hear you are back and healthy.  I can’t imagine the disruption and unknowns of it all.  And then, getting your wife on the course?  Also super fun.  The Mrs P3P decided to do the same thing and we also got lessons and they are working for her.  She isn’t the nerd I am, but there are moments when she actually seems to be enjoying it.

 

@touch we ham/egged it Friday for the first 8 holes and were doing well enough to be in it and then the dreaded best ball bogey.  At the turn we decided to take on every shot with any decent chance of success but certainly not playing “aggressively to conservative targets.”  We ended up -1.  My partner did struggle.

 

We caught Train on Friday.  He is a phenomenal voice and they were fun if not a smidge underwhelming.  But definitely a good show.  Next weekend is the concert of the year for this guy.

So much golf.  I am hitting the summer doldrums and should probably take a step back, but our tournament schedule is July/august so I try to play as much as possible to hit the doldrums and then like the Phoenix…?  We will see if it happens.

 

This fall is a biggie when we head to the sphere for U2, but Sunday is an absolute rocker of a show and I am giddy.  I hope I am close enough to get a couple of photos for the lounge.  We have early entry so we should be in good shape, or able to get closer than others if we choose.  And yeah, the Cancun Dead shows were really good as well.
