I don’t think so! I am pretty confident that was his full time set.  
 

Dr. Warner was and still is an incredibly unassuming and very cool guy. @aenemated will appreciate, his Ph. D. is from NC St. Wicked smart, a mind for statistics and complicated econometric models….those extra problem sets I got to do whupped me up much worse than he did on the course.

I'm pleased @rsballer10 found the Lounge because now we have a representative from Maryland! I think Maryland has one of the best state flags. 

 

During my DC days I would take dates to Solomon's Island in Calvert county Maryland. It's located where the Patuxent river meets the Chesapeake Bay. There was a nice boat rental business there and I would rent a 20 footer with a 75 hp outboard for me and my lady friend and cruise around the shoreline and coves. There were some decent restaurants and bars in the area that we would go to as well. Fresh crab cakes anyone ? Solomon's was a 90 minute drive from the DC beltway in Alexandria. It certainly was a nice change of pace from the DC rat race being on the water sipping wine and taking in the scenery.

Went to my buddy’s lake house / camp in NH right before I got hurt, didn’t bring my  clubs…my buddy and his brother got us a major hookup to play an extremely private club there. I found a set of 845s on his property — SCORE! They sure did look small with modern eyes, but those irons are great and I played fine.

Of course my TA 845s's had Golf Pride green Victory grips on them. We didn't have too many options in grips back in those days. 

 

 

Several PGA Tour professionals used Tommy Armour 845 irons, most notably Davis Love III and Fred Couples. Jim Gallagher Jr. also played them. These irons were popular in the early 1990s, with many players using them, including Davis Love III's 1992 set which included the Ping Eye 2 wedges

They looked a little smaller than my Pings but man, especially the short irons, they were superb.

... Close to 8pm here so half of you are in bed but today was a good day. Swing felt pretty close to normal again 🥳 and had 4 birdies and a bogie. Two in a row on the back including the 2/4 handicap holes so I felt pretty good about that. Then on the way home a surprise shower!!! Only lasted about 5 minutes but it came out of nowhere and cleaned the air and gave our flora and fauna juuuust a little relief for the desert heat.

... And another thing. Getting paired up with others is always interesting. Two guys in their early 50's Bret and Brian who played in high school back in Chicago. Bret was having a really bad day and the ole "I can't believe I am playing this bad and I am much better than this. I usually hit my share of bad shots but not THIS many" And while I didn't doubt him, it wouldn't be a night and day difference. Brian probably shot in the mid or lower 80's but he had 2 blow up holes so hard to tell.

... That said I usually didn't see them much til we got to the green as they had their shots to play that were rarely near mine and I drove my cart to the shade every chance I got with temps around 112*. So when I stuck a LW from 59 yds to 3 feet on #17 and rolled in the birdie I was surprised when he said "That's 3 birdies on the back right?" a little surprised I said yes. Then he followed that with "And another birdie on the front with just one bogie?" How the he!! would he know that? I had to check my scorecard to be sure but he was right. Like I said, getting paired up with others is interesting because he did say nice birdie when I made them but just didn't seem to be paying attention to me at all, mostly because he had his hands full sharing a cart with Bret who didn't break 100. Both were good guys with pleasant conversations and I find that to be the most important thing when sharing 4 hours together with a stranger.

Sam, atta boy!  Always good to reclaim the swing again!  One of the keys to golf is always remember that the swing will come back from the dead.  I went through a 2 month period earlier this year, I think January & February, where I played so poorly, I contemplated not playing for awhile.  I was surprised and sad.  I couldn't even chip the ball with any confidence.  Chili dips were happening several times a round, and it hurt because the short game has always been my strength.  I would card anything from 90-99.  I was a 16 HDCP and going backwards!  Fast forward to today, I am a 12 HDCP and playing the best golf in my life.  In the past 2 weeks I shot 4 rounds in the high 70's.  So I know how it feels to reclaim the old swing again.  I am not sure why or how it happens, it just does.  I had a little vertigo back then so that is what I am blaming it on.  That is my story and I am sticking to it! 🙂

I entered an event outside of Cleveland this weekend. Saturday we get a hi temp of 75. Sunday 79. Sun, no clouds, no rain. 👍🏼
 

It will be like San Diego….until I leave the course and see Cleveland instead of Cali. 🤣

A substantial weather change is happening here as well with the high temps Saturday thru next Tuesday around 70-71 degrees. By gosh it will feel like northern Michigan. 🙂

What's funny here is Leah likes to CLAIM she's from Southern California ... but I know she was actually born in Cleveland and her family moved to San Diego when she was like 4 or 5 😂

Different state - but this morning I-70 was shutdown because a truck carrying 40,000lbs of watermelon caught on fire.

Did I say Solomon's Island?  My mistake. I meant to say Sandy Point State Park. It's a great place because when you swim in the water the crabs slice up your toes.

Fixed it! you're allowed to swim in the harbor now. Visitors welcome! Don't mind the taxi we pulled out of there with a missing person from 2018 🙂

The new line of Scotty C. Phantom "Black Line" putters just arrived and I was able to roll some with 2 of the 4 models.

My findings? ... they are very good looking putters with a little softer feel at impact compared to the standard Phantoms.
