My buddy ran a commercial moving crew. One job, one of those fireproof file cabinets got away on a long staircase. 😳 Those things are heavy as a safe. Buddy saw the guy in its way about to have his life changed forever ☠️ and he basically form-tackled the cabinet and kept the guy at the bottom from getting crushed. His reward was a broken shoulder and a lifetime of major back problems.

Moving is hard. Especially when you are young, strong, and dumb.

Being a mover is ideal for a strong back and a weak mind.

I was a natural 😊

Now there is a group of Ashevillian's that does drive me a bit batty and those are the females that drive Subaru's and Prius's that always have this sticker proudly displayed on the back of their cars. There are many of them. Most of them are very good at holding up traffic by just putzing along and not paying full attention to the road and traffic around them.

It's the Asheville Cat Weirdos Club.

Over the weekend I was walking down the haunted tunnel that runs under the clubhouse and I found this antique. Heck only a few of us here in the Lounge remember metal beverage cans with pull top openings. I'm thinking this can of Bud was from the early 70's.

We don't allow dogs, well, we don't but do.  A couple of guys on the grounds crew have their dogs running around the course in the early morning but then when the golfers start they have to stay on the carry-alls (those little ATV deals they bomb around in).

Also, there is one guy who plays quite a bit but has some issues.  I don't think the dog is technically a service dog, but I know they both get a little anxious when they are apart so the player can put the dog in the cart and play during the slow times.  He always plays alone, he always plays 4-9 holes, and he always plays during dinner time.  Great guy, but after some health issues leading to other issues I think we can say he has a disability.

I have no issue with "service dogs" in spite of my diatribe about the dog at the bar the other day in the Black Cat restaurant / bar. I fully understand the peace of mind they bring to their owners. The dog at the Cat was large, sitting on the guy's lap, the dog's head was the same height as everyone else's. His dog either needs to rest on the floor at his feet or learn how to quaff a beer at the counter.

The reason I don't think he is technically a service dog is because he jumps on me and wants a treat from my car.  But dang if that dog isn't voice trained.  He goes into the cart barn, gets his cart, says, "Saddle up" and the dog is off like a rocket, jumps in the cart and off they go.  There was a lot of consternation on the courses part to permit it, but I think they made the right decision.

I say pass on him and look for a deeper Pick, someone who hails from Great Britain.

So someone from GBR is going to break the drought?  Faldo is the last GBR winner.

Who?  Fleetwood?  Haha!  That's right I picked him...hmmm.....

I just may add Hatton.  I woudn't call these deep picks, but better than Aberg.

Aberg is the quintessential example of a rising star with a ton of talent, early wins, but it is going to be awhile before he has the mental game for a major.

That wouldn’t give me any heartburn at all. Grounds crew dog? Heck, I think a grounds crew should have a dog around, plus it’s a great lifestyle for the dog. The fellow with the anxiety, hey, you do you, he’s playing solo during off hours so can’t imagine anyone taking issue there.

Allowing dogs on a restaurant patio where I’m eating is what I’m not good with.

If the dog is well trained I wouldn’t have a problem with it being on the course.  Technically I could get a service dog with my amputation, and if I did I would definitely take to the course with me.

I saw this guy who plays golf with his service dog and it was amazing how well behaved it was.  Required a lot of extra training.  Basically when the guy put his bag down his dog layed next to the bag and looked the opposite way.  When he picked his bag up, the dog would get up and walk right next to his side.

This afternoon I was invited to play with some members. It's hot and sticky here in Asheville.

... I just don't get the kid. Like a high index player, it is just one or two blow up holes that usually derail his tournaments. Just some amazingly bad shots seemingly out of the middle of nowhere. Aberg has such a stoic demeanor it's hard to tell if he has the internal grit needed to play at the highest level for every shot over 4 days. But I look at that swing and think "How could he ever miss a shot?" He reminds me a little of Scotty when everyone in the know said once he starts winning there will be no stopping him. He just doesn't seem to have Scotty's internal drive.

Dang it, and I was playing steady out of the gate too. The lightning siren went off. All play suspended for an incoming thunderstorm.

They're showing a film about a young lady from LA playing in the Adaptive Open ... all filmed at good ol' Westchester near LAX where I was a pretty serious regular for about 4 years.

He just seems to get a case of the slices sometimes. I can see why someone so high speed would hit mostly fades, that makes sense. But his right miss really hurts him at the worst times.
