I had the Redboard 73X in my 905R and now play the Whiteboard 73X in my 907D2 and the only thing I find different about the two shafts is that the Whiteboard will not go left!!! I had a problem hooking the Redboard. I hit them both on the same trajectory.

I just wish Tiger would use his driver more. Seeing him bomb his 3 wood 270 + makes an old guy like me loose his hair quicker.

Before I switch to a White Board, I need to know how much Tiger tips his shaft. Our swings are so similar.

 

He doesn't get his shafts tipped. In an interview about 6 months ago in golf magazine he said that he gets all of his shafts (including irons) Pure'd.

 

I just ordered a Superquad TP with Diamana BlueBoard in it and had it sent to the people that do the Puring.

Claimed by all the pros. I've seen a little improvement in my X-forged irons with project 6.5 shafts but I've seen a HUGE improvement in my driver and 3 wood. What they do is find the perfect allignment in the shaft so you get a more consistent flex point so you can hit the ball farther and straighter. It doesn't cost that much either. lol I should work for these guys ha

I think he tinkers and experiments with a lot of shafts, I have seen pics within the last 6-12 months of him hitting Epic (Golf Digest) and Grafalloy Bi Matrx (Golf Digest),

Good thing he resigned last year then huh? And I think its more of a proffit sharing deal at this point with nike-golf I'm sure. So for the guys hopping Tig is going to jump ship next time around don't hold your breath...my 2 pennies

the Epic was 1 day during a range session.

 

the Bi-Matrix shaft was years ago. he used that shaft when he was still using the Maxback SQ. since he changed to the SQ Tour, he hasn't used the Bi-Matrix shaft.

 

100% certain i saw Tiger playing the new Sumo 5000 during his practice round when they showed him on the golf channel.

Why does everyone think this? The reason is it becomes distracting having the logo when you are looking down. Dont you think that if Golf Pride really thought that the reason was they didnt want to give free pub that they would put logos on both sides?

NOTE:

1. I was kidding about the tipping (don't really care whether Tiger tips or not; it's not germane to my equipment decisions).

2. I was kidding about "our swings being so similar"; they really are not.

3. I hope Puring works well for you-- Puring and spining have been around for several years and there have been MANY posts on the subject. Many do not feel it makes a difference; others swear by it; and still others think it's like eating chcken soup when you're sick: "it couldn't hurt".

I agree, I think he's been using this shaft for awhile, they've just been painting blue board graphics on it. But I also think Tiger's shaft is different than anything you can buy off the shelf. I think he prob. uses a 83 g too...

put logo down because then if you put it on a little crooked then you dont realize it.

I think some players find the golf pride logo distracting. Especially on shots where they have to open or close the club, and therefor the logo would appear off center. I've seen players do this with Lamkin grips as well.

This is the reason the logo goes down. It makes it 1000x easier and faster to put the grips on when you don't have to worry about aligning them perfectly, especially with the discerning and particular eye that most pros have. The exception, of course, is ribbed grips, and even now, the grip companies are making ribbed grips with the logo down.

 

If you notice, at least with GP Tour Velvets, they have slightly changed. On the white bands at the top and bottom of the grip, there is a little notch that connects the two bands that go around the grip, one on top, and one on bottom. You can still "align" that notch, but if it is off a little bit, it isn't near as noticeable as the big logo being misaligned.

 

The older version (3-4, or maybe more, years ago) didn't have the notch that connects the two white bands on both sides, it was only on the top.

No, but I did experience a little "Golf Gods" humor at my expense. All day people were clicking away with cameras so in no way was it unusual to hit the sound of shutters slapping all over the range. I had the honor of being the "idiot of the day" when all of a sudden EVERYONE"S cameras and conversation went dead silent. Of course this had to occur right as I was snapping of shots during Tiger's swing (probably 30-40yds from him). Next of course Tiger stared a hole through my soul and Steve gave me the snap you like a twig look. Needless to say after that point I did not make that mistake again.
