Tyler Lowy putters

I know artisan putter builders are seemingly dime-a-dozen these days but I really feel like I need to mention Tyler Lowy (@lowytyler) and his handcrafted putters. They’re not the fanciest, flashiest, or most customizable but after receiving mine in the mail the other day I can honestly say that his craftsmanship is just as amazing as the other craft/artisan putters that I’ve come across. Only using a Bridgeport mill without CAD or CNC his options are limited to Anser-style headshapes but I must say the final product is both simple and awe-inspiring at the same time. What’s more, Tyler is very personable and his communication is top-notch. I sent him a shaft and a grip and he basically had to design and craft an all new neck. He had an initial head that he was unhappy with for some small blemish and unwilling to send something not up to his standards he called me and told me he would be crafting another head and that there would be a delay in delivery. All in all, an amazing experience. Wouldn’t have changed a thing about the process.

As for the putter itself, the quality as mentioned earlier is top-notch. The welding, the neck, the light face milling, stamping, etc… perfect. As for the feel, I had Tyler install the UST Mamiya All-in putter with a P2 Tour Aware grip and the balance is amazing, esp with a 360 gm head. Not overly stiff, not flimsy. Feel on center hits have a firm but not overly clicky *tick*. Really looking forward to getting this beauty out on the course, but if the indoor putts serve any indication this really might have a good chance of being my gamer. Been following his stuff for a while and pretty cool and unique, getting more popular now which can be good or bad depending if you want one. I like his work but not sure if I'd get one but it's cool seeing a younger guy making putters on a Bridgeport vs on a CNC.

He has done a podcast to get some more info on him.

I really like his work and have been following for a while, but it's just too costly for me. A new builder charging around $700 USD is just a gamble. No resale value, nowhere to try one or see in person... If he was closer to $400-500, I think more people would be comfortable buying.

Totally think that’s a valid argument - especially if you’re not set on something. I was luckily heavily basing off another putter that I had gamed for a while, so I knew exactly what I wanted.

Of course. I don't really blame people for buying what they like, but imo there is a price that is just a bit too steep to start at when you still have makers out there charging under $450/$400 for a new custom putter.

I do like the look and style of Tyler's putters though.
