srixon z585 iron's!

Just curious if many of you all are still playing these irons? if not, what have you moved onto? I'm sure a lot will say to the zx4, 5 or 7. if so, anyone can compare the z585 to them? I just can't seem to kick them out of the bag(not as if I want to, but this is golfwrx)! Picked up a set of pxg gen3p's, really like them, but still like my 585's better. Thanks!

Still have a combo set with the 585's, been thinking about new irons but then realized my swing needs work and new irons won't fix that. So will probably see another year or two with them before I move into something else, nothing wrong with them but the shafts may not be for me anymore and the price of reshafting you might as well go new.

Im in your same shoes... 585's have been my gamers for the past few seasons and just recently purchased a set of  Mizuno jpx forged irons and played a couple of rounds with them. Beautiful Irons just not sure they are for my skill level. So, today while at work, I decided to buy some ZX5 MK II irons and will see if they better fit my game. I think the V sole helps with my angle of attack while the thickness inspires a tad more confidence. Won't be able to game them until Thursday...GL on your search.

Let me know how that works out! Have read a few reviews that say the new zx5 mkii seemed "clickier" than the older srixon's. curious to see what you think!

I moved on to Titleist T100s’s.  For me the turf interaction is much better (picker) and the trajectory is better in Iowa’s wind.  I tended to hit the z585’s to high.

The T100(s)'s are definitely the one iron I think could be in contention to replace my 585 combo when the time comes, other than the current gen Srixon's and Apex Pro's I don't know what else could be an option for me.

I really enjoys the T100(s)’s.  I did opt of the T200’s in the 4 & 5 iron slot with the 4 iron being the utility build with a Graphite Design AD-IZ.  At first the T100’s looked pretty small but I quickly adapted and now GI irons look huge to me.  I can’t say the Titleist made me a better ball striker because I have to concentrate more though:).

I’ve gamed the 585s for 4-5 years, and they’ve been great for my game. However, 2023 is the year of forgiveness so I’m moving to the ZX4 mkii.  Just got notified that they shipped today.

Owned 545, 565, 585.  Switched back to the 545s. Use my 565 Ctapers when it’s windy and I want to keep it lower. 545 set is hands down the best of the bunch.    Likely to move to the ZX4-ZX5 MKII combo this year.  Would not upgrade if I didn’t have a discount.

If I could have a dream set of irons right now, it would be a brand new set of Z565s with Dynamic Gold 105 shafts.  The only thing I didn't like about my old 565s were the GH980 shafts.  But they were SO good in every way.

I still play them in a combo set. The thinner sole of the new ZX5ii is definitely intriguing to me.

I feel like the looks and sole improvement is big enough from 585 to zx5ii to warrant a change. I’d consider going all zx5 this time around instead of combining as well. Just probably bend them weak by a couple degrees.

Still play my 565's 4-AW with no plans to change. I like the ZX4 MKII's but the data was negligible for me to justify paying. I feel like I've hit everything I could get my hands on since I bought my 565's and tried to made every excuse to justify a change, but putting "wanting something new" aside, I couldn't justify it.

The 565's soles are possibly the same or thinner than both current ZX5 models to my eye if that matters, splitting hairs really.  I do know that the 585's soles were possibly the widest of the 5 series, maybe the 545's.  Never hit the 585's, saw them in person once, didn't care for the look too much, but I bet they were great!

interesting. Yeah I never loved the look of them either. Not much bag appeal. But feel is incredible and distance reliable.

Not really apples to oranges, but a few years ago I picked a up Mint set of Z565's with C-Tapers 120 for $550.  The main reason I got them is that I wanted the ZX5's (MK1) but at $1300 for a set, couldn't justify.  The Z565's I got also were +1.0 inch, which I need.

Can't really compare them to the 585's, but the performance against the ZX5's off the mat was the same for me on the monitor.  I find them a little less forgiving than my Wilson C200's but the shaft on those is different (KBS 110V stiff).  Miss hits aren't too bad, but I definetly lose distance more so than the C200's.   However, when they are struck well, there is more a controlled flight and I can get a little more distance (5 yds on 150).  I can't distinguish too much difference in turf action but it is easier to pick the ball of the turf cleanly with the 565's.  The C200's are more suited for a sweeper swing based on my observations.

Probably not too much help for your question, but if the 585's behave similar to the 565's maybe.

I have two sets of 565's.  The sole was thinner than 545 and 585, and some say the 565 is the most forgiving of the models (marginally).  The feel is great for the type of iron.  If I had the budget I would get some Proto Concepts 05's to replace the 565's.
