Think I regret not going CB.  King tours are great but they are a bit chunky (which I could get along with) but I find them not getting through the turf like my P7mc.

anyone else experience that

100% agree with you here. Sole is too thick and too much bounce.

Do you play cb?  If so, any issue with those getting through?

I have the CB's and while they are thicker than most other OEM's CB's I have no issue with them getting through the turf. I have just added the MB PW and GW to my bag to replace the CB's. I have the Tours in 4+5 iron and but come in much more shallow with them so can't really say.

I hit a buddies CBs recently - wowzers.  I'm definitely not good enough to call them my gamer, but they felt incredible (although I really like the King Tours as well).  I still maintain that Cobra is one of the most underrated iron makers our there (yes, I'm biased but I love my FTs).

If you hit them well, go for the CB’s. I don’t believe handicap alone is a good indicator. The quality of your ball striking is what really matters.

I'm a good example of that. I’m a 6 handicap that has played blades since I started golfing 5 years ago. Most people would say that’s stupid but ball striking and driving are the 2 best parts of my game. It’s the 40+- putts I have to clean up.

If you go back and hit them well again, give it a shot! What do you have to lose? Can always resell them if it doesn’t work out.

How do folks like the CB or Tour gap wedges?

I love my King Tour gap wedge!! Full shots get great spin and height, easily workable but easy to flight down if needed with less than full swings. It is great around the green with whatever shot you want to play. For me, it is the most versatile wedge in the bag and just instills confidence and just straight up predicable.

I'm a 8-9 index who has better ball striking than my index implies. I agree that you should just test them out and get what you like.  I tested both the CB and Tours at golf shop hitting bay and no matter how much I tried to use common sense that the Tours would be better for me and my handicap, I hit the CBs better and more consistently.  I can't explain to you why...I'm not a better ball striker than Rickie Fowler who chose to go with the Tours over the CBs.

I think mentally and subconsciously we all have individual quirks about how we perceive the clubs in our hands to be.  I honestly think that for the immediate time being, I perceive the CBs in my hands to be harder to hit, so I subconsciously put more smooth swings on them to avoid the off center hit/feedback that I know is possible with such a club.  The end result of putting a better swing on a club creates more perceived "forgiveness and consistency"  in that I am more often closer to the center of the face than swinging a club with more tech in it with a not so smooth swing and relying on the tech to cover up strikes that are farther from the center of the face.

Could I put smoother and consistent swings on my old set of Forged Tecs and get ultimately better results given I am not close to a tour or scratch level ball striker...probably.  But at least for now, looking down at my CBs is a constant reminder, on every single swing, that good contact trumps all.  When I looked down at my forged tecs...I did a lot of overswinging or got quick wth my tempo.

Anyone with the King Tours willing to take a heel to toe measurement of the 7 iron along with a shot addressing a ball? Trying to determine if they'll be my next set after the NL 902OS I've been working with this year.

There’s a shot at address a couple of pages back and there is a shot of a 5 iron head being measured on the page right before this one

Everyone still liking the king cb? I just ordered a set 4-pw today. Been playing mizuno pro 243 but can’t seem to get enough spin or descent for my liking. Hit a ton of irons today and the king cb was the standout performer for me. Amazing feel. About 600 more spin over my 243 (which are already 2 degrees weak) and the cobras had a better descent angle by 2-3 degrees.

Loving my Cobra CB's still.  Performance is great and they're quite forgiving for a players CB. Best feeling irons I've hit.

How the turf interaction? I didn’t get to hit them off turf only in a hitting bay. You find the long irons to be decently forgiving? I’m coming from mizuno pro 243 irons and find the long irons pretty forgiving so if they are similar I’d be happy.

I practically live on course so out almost every day.  Gaming 2 sets.  OXG 0317 CB and Titleist T150’s.  Pillow fight.  My head pro and I were playing 9 the other day.  He was mentioning me considering getting a few blades, perhaps 7-PW to mix things up.  His feeling was learning to play blades actually can make you a better ball striker over time.   We can go on and on here for hours on which blade(s) to go with.  I absolutely love the look and feel of the Cobra MB’s and CB’s.   Am I out of my mind here thinking of being fit and putting trigger.   I liked Titleist MB/CB’s too, Mizuno is Mizuno.  The Cobra’s hit something though no pun intended.   The Tours are very nice but not what I’m trying to achieve.  I feel like I’m trying to be a martyr…

I did through a mb/cb fitting a month ago.  Cobras were a stand out along with Wilson.  I actually hit the cobras a bit further and with more consistency than anything else.

Blades are not hard to hit, especially in the short irons. You play for a living ? If not then play them

I love my king tours. Sadly I quickly grew out of the PX LZ 5.5’s in them and hit long irons better than the hybrids I had on the top end. Ended up fitting into PXG 0317t’s, though it was a close call with just ordering a 4/5i and reshafting with DG 120 X100’s since the king tours were so new. The 0317s just worked for me, really well.

I read that somewhere too.  If I played for a living I’d be broke.  7 HCP.   My head pro said I should get just a few clubs in blades for practice.

Tracking shows my set will be here today. Im going to hit them on my simulator tonight. I went 8-pw mb and 7-4 cb. I wont be able to get them on course until this weekend to see how turf interaction is. I was actually going to do a full set in cb's but the 9 iron in the cb is back ordered until mid july for some reason. After thinking about it more i am very glad I went with the mb in the scoring irons. I played a full set of 221s then went to a full set of 243 which I am currently gaming and I feel the 221 was much more consistent for me. I will write you guys a detailed response on my thoughts on these irons after I get some time in with them.

I believe the Cobra CB is now discontinued,

Its not. They are back on 9 irons in the cb. I could have ordered a whole set of cb and waited for them to come back in stock but decided to do a combo with the mb instead and not wait.

So initial thoughts. I hit them last night a little bit on my simulator. I have been golfing every day for the last week and my back was hurting so I only hit maybe 40ish balls. I am hoping that's why this was happening but for some odd reason I was super inconsistent with the cb irons. I was hitting the 7 iron cb and my distances were anywhere from 160-168. In the fitting I was around 173-176 very consistently. I was like ok thats odd. Grabbed the mb irons and it was a super consistent smoke show. 8 iron was 159-160 yards 5 times in a row. Ok grabbed the 9 iron mb. Same thing. 150 over and over. ok this is odd. pitching wedge mb. 138-140 on auto pilot. Grabbed the 6 iron cb. 175 yards. uuhhh ok. By this point my back was telling me to stop. So I called it a night but I cant stop thinking bout it. What in the freaking world is going on. Im hoping I was doing something funky due to my back but the mb irons were dead nuts on. Im going to try again tonight and if its all over the place im going back in to have the lofts checked. The cb irons were pretty explosive in the fitting.
