Heck yes, Bryan. I NEARLY went with the black flow set. I finally got out to hit balls tonight and worked through evens on the irons and just can’t get over how well I’m hitting them. I don’t know if it has something to do with the shaft and it creating consistency for me but these clubs are great.

They really are awesome! Such a sleeper iron. I was super tempted to buy the new P790 (bc they look fantastic) but I got these and held off the urge. Boy am I glad I did. Absolutely zero regrets. Everything I could want in an iron.

They are great! I’ll be honest when I tried them indoors - they felt kinda boardy or stiff for whatever reason. Probably because I was coming from DG 120 X100 (which feel better/smoother to me). However - these Tour V really feel nice on the course and if I had to describe the feel of the combo in one word, it’d be “powerful”. Excellent flight for me and super straight. I really enjoy them.

Thanks.  That’s good to hear.  I’m torn on the tour v 120x and $ taper 120.  Both have a really feel in terms of balance point.  Love the weight!

I really like these irons, very consistent distance for me with DG-S300 130 shafts. The only challenge I am working out is I hit them left, like a pull and I don’t usually have an outside in swing. They have been bent flat to where they should be for me. Wondering if I need to bend them even more flat?

I compared them to Titleist T200’s I bought here and the Titleists are long but crooked. I will probably be listing the Titleists here.

Currently testing/converting from $ Taper 120 to Tour-V 120x in my black King Tours. $T’s feel great but are just a hair loose and my dispersion is a bit wide.

@bryanwmilburn nice to see someone in the same setup and loving it!

So are the KBS Tour V 120X on the softer side compared to other KBS X shafts which are 10 grams heavier at 130, I found the KBS Tour VT 125 S+ to be every bit as stout as the PX 6.5 or maybe even slightly stouter when I hit them a while back.

I ordered my King Tours with Tour V 120X. I found them to play between PX 6.0 and 6.5. Definitely a X flex. Similar in profile to Modus 130. There is not a lot of loading feel with this shaft since it has a very stiff midsection. Found them to feel very stable and accurate.  In my hands, I had a hard time flighting them and playing partial shots. Pulled them and soft stepped them 1 X. They felt pretty much the same, but launch and spin increased a bit. Sold the shafts and swapped for $Taper HT 125.

I did all this work with the shafts because the heads aren't going anywhere. King Tours are a phenomenal irons.

I'm very interested in the king line. Most likely an MB/CB combo or CB/Tour combo. They look so good and I'm thinking I might want the little bit of extra distance in the long irons with the Tour.

at your hdcp you could easily play the flow set (4,5,6 cb 7-pw/gw mb) which I highly recommend.

I have tried to quit these a couple of different times only for them to end up back in the bag.  They are a perfect blend of more forgiving than a players CB on toe strikes, and close to a GI iron.

I had played a blended set of ZX5 and ZX7, and Blueprint S and i230, but the Cobra tours beat them both.

Completely agree. My miss is on the toe side with irons and even when the strike feels awful, I'm always pleasantly surprised with where the shot ended up. It'll be really hard to kick my set of Tours out of the bag.

I've also tweaked my swing quite a bit and I'm much more steep than I used to be. The Tours get through the turf so well.

I would love to, they look amazing. But I seem to play less and less each year and am looking for a bit more distance out of my 4 and 5 iron which makes me lean to the other combo.

FWIW - I play off of a 4 HC and went Tour straight through. It’s very nice not to have to worry about how you strike it and still get an incredible feel, performance, and look out of these irons. I don’t have enough rounds to talk about turf interaction (and how they perform out of the rough) but I’m very happy I went Tour straight through.

I'm still in testing with my set. Going to Florida next week and will report back. The reason I went tours is that they have the same sole width as the CB. If I was going to go for less forgiveness I'd do the MB for the smaller overall size. In the sim they're very consistent for spin and ball speed etc.

Mizuno 243. Got these because I had an opportunity to get them new at an extremely good price. I wanted to try out some graphite due to elbow injuries. I went MMT 105TX and a degree flat. I originally was going to do 4i tour, 5-6 CB, and 7-PW blade but thought I’d just go for the full tours as a lot of their staff are. So far indoors they feel really nice. Normally play x100 and the static weight of these is the same my other set with x100 in them - I think the 105Tx may come out even heavier than 113g.

I have always loved how cobra blends their offset in this style of iron. Something do to with the hosel transition and leading edge to toe transition. They honestly don’t look much more offset than the CB visually despite there being a good bit more by the numbers. Nice 5mph ball speed gaps, consistent and respectable spin numbers, and easy to hit straight and curve subtly when needed. No issues hitting a fade with them which is not my natural shape. I’ll avoid saying much until I play them in money games next week.

I just purchased a set of the black King Tours with $ taper 120x for a steal! They should be here this Monday or Tuesday. I’m excited to see how they compare to my zx7 mkiis.

I’ve never played a black iron before, but I feel like it frames the ball nicely, so I guess we will see. I’ve heard nothing but great things about these heads, and I’ve heard many folks like the shaft. I’m currently playing Nippon 130x soft stepped, so we’ll see how I get along with the $ tapers.

I'm curious as to those who have blended the tour/cb/mb and how their gaps worked out relative to loft.  Did you find that the tour reflects distance loft for loft with the cb/mb?  For instance does the tour go 5-6 yards longer on average than the cb model given the 2 degree difference in loft?  If you bent the tour back a degree does that end up gapping pretty close to the cb/mb?

I absolutely love the KING Tours - but the shorter irons had just a bit to much offset for me. Hit a lot of solid shots in the short irons (8-G) but they tended to go left of target, didn't have that issue with 4-7..... love those long irons in the KT. I am in the process of building a blended set with KT in 4-7 and CB in 8-P

fascinated with this comment

I have been playing KTs for awhile now and LOVE them

but

do struggle a bit with the 8,9,P ....have then basically 3 flat to counter

Been using cobra drivers for the last 4 years or so, decided to get a cobra 3 wood as well and now I’m thinking about cobra irons 🫠

My current irons are like security blanket and I can’t seem to find something I like better. Current set up: OG srixon ZX7

Sets I’ve tried to replace the ZX7: Ping i230, Titleist 620mb/t100/t100s combo, and most recently TM P7cb.

Thinking about dumping a couple sets in the BST to fund a set of King Tours 😬

For those who have compared ZX7 to the king tour what would you say were the differences in your experience? The most addicting feature of the zx7 to me is the sound and feel. Forgiveness is decent. I keep reading how nice the king tours feel and how well these perform.

My previous set were the ZX7s. Which I loved. I still have them, but played them since their release and it was time for a new set. I built up the KTs late summer early fall (iirc) 2024.

The primary differences I see is launch and spin. Even with my ZX7s weakened a degree the Tours launch higher and spin more at the stock loft (32 degree 7 iron). I was very happy about that. I tend to be a lower launch/spin player so I was pleased to see that.

Feel wise, the ZX7s are noticeably softer. Don’t get me wrong the KTs do feel quite good, but the ZX7s are softer/nicer feeling.

I would put forgiveness to be pretty similar. I found the ZX7s to be rather forgiving for a “players” iron and the KT is right there with it. If you’re a decent ball striker the KTs will treat you very well.

The soles are quite a bit different, as you know. I do get steep and the KTs don’t get out of the turf as easily as the ZX7s, but it’s not bad at all. If you’re used to the turf interaction with your ZX7s you will notice a bit more “drag”. Depending of course how you swing.

Overall I am very pleased with the KTs and don’t see them going anywhere for the foreseeable future. They do everything I need them to do and in what I think is a nice looking package. They frame the ball nicely at address and for me are confidence inspiring. Great irons overall.

Since this is WRX, I will probably test the ZXi irons at some point because heaven help me if I have a great set of irons I must replace them 😂

Have a set of Tour/CB/MB blended set on the way that I'm excited about. 5 & 6 are Tour at 1° weak, 7-9 are CB 1° strong and PW is the MB at 1° strong.

I have a set of MP5s.  I’ve hit my KTs and MP5s back to back. Is there a feel difference between the KTs and MP5s? Yes, there is. I would say the KTs feel denser if that makes sense? Still very pleasing to hit, but the MP5s are softer feeling. Kind of hard to explain, but the same ball does feel different off of each iron.
I’m not knocking the KT for feel. It feels quite good. I enjoy the feel quite a bit. Just simply pointing out that in my hands there is a difference in softness with the ZX7s and MP5s vs. the KT.

Will you be disappointed by the feel of the KT? That’s impossible for me to answer.

Feel is so subjective.  I have played MP-14 to some upper end GI irons over my career.

I have a set of ZX7 (OG's)

Blue Print S

and Cobra Tours

Softest I believe is a tie between the Tour and the ZX7.  I know this sounds crazy, because the ZX7 are Endo forged carbon steel.  However design and things they add make a big difference, and the little slot behind the face with the black elastomer type stuff really softens the feel.  The tours are more forgiving on toe strikes, and I would say in the long irons the Tours are as forgiving as the ZX5(I have a combo set).  I find the mid and short irons great in both, but the Tours are more forgiving than the ZX7 in the 5 and 6 iron(I have ZX7 5-PW & ZX5 4-5).  I played both irons with the same set of shafts.

edited to add:

Tours are 1025 carbon and have the TPU insert

Well glad to see this thread alive again haha. @ChadL thanks for the write up comparing KT and Zx7. The zx7s are the irons that keep making it back into my bag, but I’m looking for something new. Since I posted I went ahead and ordered a set of King Tours 4-pw 🫠

@driveandputtmachine thanks for the feedback as well! I’ve had a decent amount of iron sets the last 3 years. Partly because I was managing a pro shop and the owner would give me a set of whatever I wanted lol. 1st attempt at replacing my zx7s started with i230s when they first dropped, performed well but was never in love with them. They felt numb to me like I couldnt tell where I was hitting them. Next was the mizuno 223, same thing decent but long irons definitely felt different and they were kinda too quick/“hot”. 3rd attempt Titleist t100s/t100/620mb combo set decent set but mb’s are demanding and titleist forgings are definitely on the firm side. And the latest experiment TM P7cb, these are the best out of what I just listed, still feel like something is missing feel wise. Every iron set I also experimented with new shafts so that probably also didn’t help. I guess I’m sensitive to feel. Glad to hear the KT feel nice, I’m sure they will it’s all I keep hearing in the reviews. I did order them to my spec and my shafts (no more experiments lol)

If you look on these and other forums you will find posts from some players saying the new Srixon Zxi7s do not feel better than the last ones and some even saying they feel hard. Others say they have the greatest feel ever. I found no surprises. I thought they felt nice, like a forged iron, really, just like the 1020 forged Z745s that started this series. No difference. It is all very subjective. Personally I like the P7CB a good bit more than the latest Srixons, which look boxy and thick to me.

The Cobras don’t take a back seat on materials or manufacturing. The King Tours are 5-times forged from 1025 carbon steel and the slot is then CNC milled. Very high quality and they feel excellent. IMO they are more forgiving than the Srixons and comparable to the P7CB.
