2 hybrid?

My most consistent wood(may be of time)is my ZX 22*hybrid. Full smooth swing carries 225.  All things being equal what could I expect to gain for yardage with a 16* hybrid of the same model and 1” more shaft?

I can hit my 17* 245 on a regular basis and it’s one of my favorite clubs. 
 

That being said I am contemplating trying a 3wood 3hybrid setup to try and get 15 more yards. 
 

Might not need it though, when am I going to be pin seeking from 260.

In theory yes.  6* and inch long would be 2 clubs longer so rough 20 yards.  That being said a 16* hybrid is low loft so you there is a point of diminishing return.  Are you launching the 22* plenty high?  No issue hitting off all lies?  If yes I would say yes.

 

As a side not I have a 19* I hit really well.  I struggle with consistency with my 3 wood.  I am giving serious thought on replacing my 3 wood with a 17* hybrid.  I will be giving up a few yards but hope to gain confidence when I have a long approach

I carry a 17* Tour Edge Exotics C721 hybrid as my lowest lofted and longest club after my driver and find it provides much more value than I’ve ever gotten out of a 3-wood before. Do I ever ponder using a 3-wood again for pure distance potential? Absolutely but for me I’m more consistent with the 17* hybrid (shorter length vs 3-wood and slightly more loft is likely the reason) and it’s sooo much more versatile!!!

 

I’m confident hitting it in all conditions…whether that’s off the tee, from the fairway, or even poor lies in the rough. That confidence and role compression is worth a ton at the top of the bag and is why I chose and recommend a 2 hybrid over a 3-wood.

I have a 2 hybrid at 16* and it's paired with a low/low shaft and launches plenty high so I wouldn't be worried about that.  You could expect to see up to 20 yards more with that setup you proposed but it really depends on how consistent you are with ball striking since you're proposing going with a shaft that's a full inch longer than your current hybrid.

I have the C721 in a 19*.  Awesome club.  Do you have a 19* as well?  Curious how much difference you see between the 17 and 19.  My guess 10-12 yards or possibly more with some roll.

Unfortunately for your club pondering I don’t, my next club up is a 21* Callaway UW which is about a 20-25 yard gap for me. I think your guess is pretty good though on the difference between the 17 and 19 c721 hybrid. I would say all things being equal, it would likely be a 8-10 yards difference for most people and that would increase for faster swingers.

It depends on whether you can launch a 2H.

I get about 12-13 yards between my hybrids 16-19-22 so say 25 yards between 16 and 22. The 2h 16 doesn’t go as far as a 3 wood or even 4 wood, but it’s much more consistent for me and fits my home course.

I tried a 17 degree with shaft that works with my swing and it was too low launch and spin.

I have both, ZX 2 & 4 hybrid. I hit the 4 hybrid around 190 and the 2 hybrid around 215 yards. No issue carrying both. 
 

On days where the ego comes out, rather than ability, I have a 3w and a 2 utility iron. 
 

Play the hybrids, way more consistent
