Recommend PLM for on course use?

I am able to walk my course in the evenings and do equipment testing etc…

I am thinking of trying out balls and drivers on the course and want to measure ball speed, launch angle, carry and ideally spin if possible. 
Ease of set up and portability are key. I would be cross checking carry distance with my sky caddie. I want long term comparisons of ball and driver data to make decision between drivers and golf balls. It would be cool also to see how much wedge  and iron spin affects my proximity to hole and dispersion on the course.

im aware that under 1k you can count on iffy data points on some metrics but would have the portability.

I wouldn’t mind buying RCT balls as I use Pro V1 anyway.

I would consider the Mevo + with pro package if in this context you think it would be portable enough and provide more accurate data.

Knowing what I am looking for what portable launch monitors would you recommend?

Our school's golf team purchased a Garmin R10 last fall and it seems to be pretty accurate. There are a lot of reviews out there that say the accuracy is better outside than indoors. It's also very easy to use. At that price point, I don't think you will do much better.

I think "on the fly" setup may be a challenge for you. These radar based LMs need to be oriented/placed with some care and precision. With some maybe being more or less "picky" than others. 

 

Maybe hold off for reviews on the MLM 2 Pro. Seems like that will be the most accurate in terms of spin (outside of the high dollar camera based systems). And also may be less demanding from a setup perspective.

I would wait for the Swing Caddie SC4. That is the fastest setup out of all of them. You don't need a phone and to worry about constant pairing it and setup. Just drop it and go. (assuming that the SC4 is a real improvement over the SC300)

Mevo+ works very well, however as with any radar based system, you need to take a bit of time to get it aligned.  If you're off, the results will be off.

 

The idea of bringing it with me on course just would never cross my mind.  Maybe off a tee box if it's dead and I'm just screwing around, but assume at least 30s to set it up at minimum, it's just impractical for all shots.

 

Sc300 would be ok since there's no app, you just drop it down and hit.  Downside is I don't think it does horizontal launch/spin

That’s hopefully where the SC4 will come in.
