Ventus Velacore “splinter

Expert input needed.  I was shortening my Ventus Blue by about 1/2 inch.  I taped and marked the tip, put it in a vice and used a different saw than usual.  I used a “wire” saw which has a diamond wire which I usually use for cutting metal rods & such.  (Non golf stuff).  The wire is thicker than the blade I would normally use.  When sawing as I got towards the end, I slowed down and all of a sudden, the shaft butt splintered.  Splinter  was still attached length wise, it was about 1/8 wide and 1.25 inch long.  Thickness wise it was about 25% of the thickness of the shaft wall.  Strands all appear to be lengthwise with the shaft.  (No “Weave”.). All material is still attached to the shaft.  This was direct from Callaway and is “my fault”.  I have had the shaft for about 9 months.  Because it was a pricey shaft, and I will never be able to resell it.  I got out some super glue and a tooth pick and glued the sliver back in place.  (Think carrot peel, still attached on one end).  I retaped & regripped when the glue dried.  In your expert opinion, is the shaft still usable, or do I have a hand grenade, ready to totally splinter at the wrong time?

Without pictures I’d guess it’ll be ok.  Did that once many years ago, it held up fine.  I use the same saw that you describe,  for years.  Found that cutting the shaft about 2/3 the way through then turn it over and saw through just the surface of the rest , and then finish it off.  Always works with no peeling.

Pics? I’m sure it’s fine. Minor exterior weave splinters are generally okay on the tip and butt. It depends though

What was odd is this shafts exterior was not a “Weave”, the splinter appeared to be entirely longitudinal fibers.  Other graphite shafts I have cut had more of a “weave”.  I repaired before I took picks, since I knew this was not a Warrantee issue.

Probably OK, albeit without seeing it. As a parallel the number of times I've taken a grip off to find a hack job leaving deep score marks with a stanley knife from a previous re-gripping but the club had plenty of play without the shaft failing. I'd have epoxied like you did too and left a layer on top. Then  add a tight wrap of a strong tape with no give before the grip tape on top just for an extra bit of support too. If it is bad think whether cutting the bad section out and adding back an extension may give a stronger result, but I've seen so many bad re-grip jobs on shafts that have not failed...

Yes, imo, but I'd have used epoxy rather than ca glue.
