Regular Mevo vs Garmin R10 accuracy-

It’s strange to me that most of the comparisons I have found online are with the Mevo plus. For those of you who have compared the regular flight scope Mevo to the Garmin R10 how would you compare them in terms of accuracy of information and -how the data is used, presented and stored in the app?

I’ve seen some videos online that suggest that the Mevo is more accurate, particularly with the shorter clubs , and that the app is generally more useful in terms of game improvement?

I really don’t have any desire to use a Golf simulator so I am starting to regret purchasing the Garmin.

I bought the plain old mevo last year while waiting for the r10 to be available. I used the mevo outside into a net. It seemed to me that it always was at least 10% short on shots. The other data I have no idea how accurate it was. The r10 reads all my shots short both outside and indoors, again about -10% . My nephew borrowed the mevo and said his drives were 30 yards short inside. He said the club speed was the same as his optishot but yardage off. Hes a much better golfer than me so I trust his #'s more than mine. He drives 260 on a good strike. I'm popping the Champayne when I get a summer 220 roll ! I like the shot shaping graphics of the r10. Accurate ? who knows! Storage is similiar between the 2 ,just choose the session date and open to view.

The Mevo is a decent device, but you need to understand the limitations. I don't really trust the yardages on any of these lower priced machines (although the MEVO is more accurate than I expected). I use the MEVO outdoors at a range. I know the flag yardages, and can see the flight of the ball so can tell if the spin is giving me relative numbers. I use the MEVO for a specific purpose, which I believe the unit can give accurate data.

 

Swing speed, ball speed (hence smash factor) and launch angle. I'm still a fan of watching trajectory for other factors.

Sidespin doesn't really exist. If a launch monitor gives you a sidespin number, it's calculating the component vectors of backspin and sidespin from the total spin rate and spin axis.

 

As far as I remember, OG Mevo doesn't feature spin axis so it's most likely total spin.

I think not, that's why I bought the r10 for that capability.
