Garmin Hardware Ecosystem + Head to Head with Arccos?

Quick Questions:

-Anyone use like everything Garmin, R10, CT10, G12, the Z82, etc? Does do it anything revolutionary, does it work well, and is it work going all in like people do with Apple? Can it track my practice and on course performance and help me?

 

- Any chance anyone has done a kick a** comparison of CT10 vs Arccos?

 

 

Long Version:

 

Just got a r10. Waiting the net / mat to come in so I can build the ghetto sim in the garage. Somehow 2 day prime is on day 9, but I digress...

 

Also decided to pop for a new range finder  and noticed Garmin makes one and it connects to the app. While trying to understand the benefits, I noticed that Garmin makes a G12 belt clip and CT10 trackers like Arccos. I am an Arccos user. Trying to figure it out if it's worth the switch?

Arccos is rumored to have something big coming through the pipeline. Not sure what it is. I HOPE it’s smaller, battery less sensors, that don’t have to be tapped. That would make me a user again. I went away from the sensors and went to the grips exclusively. Since I regroup every year, and they now ONLY give a year membership to NEW members when you buy new grips, I’m not paying $350 a year for grips.

I ended up jumping all in on the Garmin world, however, I don't have it fully figured out yet. If the R10 club data doesn't show up in app and that area is only CT10 sensor data, I might as well stick with Arccos because I already have the data and I don't need carry the belt clip.

Had my R10 for a couple weeks now. Started using it and playing with it the Garmin Golf App. Some of my expectations (assumptions) about how well everything worked and synced together was a bit utopian. 

 

I was hoping for the golf Version of Apple. It might be the best “all in one” option, but it’s not gonna be like a Home Kit for golf. 

 

Basically, R10 is its own database, the GPS + CT10 is its own database, and Z82 rangefinder is its own device with no data sharing back to the app. I had hoping like all 3 systems talked to each other for some amazing data. 

 

My expectation is that Arccos is probably a better stand alone system? Just based solely on the fact I can’t find anyone raving on how amazing Garmin CT10 is, it means it’s not elite? I doubt it stinks, Garmin seems to make an amazing golf product, but I doubt it’s better. 

 

So if you are starting from ground zero…

 

Arccos is probably the safe way to go because it’s a dedicated company to club tracking and it should continue improve, evolve, and offer new features. If you’re already an AppleWatch user, Arccos probably wins there too. 

 

If you already are paying for the Garmin Golf app because of Home Tee Hero or you own a compatible Garmin GPS device, the CT10 might be the best way to go. Or, if you want a belt clip, I would go Garmin here too. I think the G12 probably is  used more useful than the Arccos link and would add value.

 

Garmin also wins if you don’t 2-3 different apps going? Even though the data is all different places and does not communicate with each other, it’s still 1 app. It’s not course info in Arccos and practice sessions in Garmin, etc 

 

Another thing to consider with Garmin… Between the Z82 and G12, that’s 2 extra things to charge between rounds.

 

In my opinion, it really comes down to what subscription adds the most value to you long term? If you plan to pay for Garmin Golf because of the green heat maps in a GPS or Home Tee Hero with R10, you are basically getting the Arccos app for free within Garmin. 

 

In my case, I need to decide if I want to switch? I bought the Z82, G12, and CT10… Got a little too fired up after I started playing with R10, I get it, haha, I admit it

 

I am still within the return window and might just stick with Arccos, not pay for the Garmin app, and stick with the Bushnell rangefinder. Not sure Home Tee Hero or the greens maps add that much value to me. For R10 simulator golf, E6 comes with a handful of free courses and home tee hero looks like Mario golf… but maybe maybe 1 app is a win? Not sure

 

If anyone has head to head experience with CT10 and Arccos, Let me know your thoughts! Would love to hear
