Ocean City Courses Now $$$$$$$

Every spring break (April 17th ish), head to OC for a few rounds at some of the areas courses.  Played Links and Lighthouse and Rum previously in 2021 and paid about $90 ish for Rum and Lighthouse  for mid- AM Tee times.  

 

Now they are $140 (Rum) and $150 (Lighthouse) for the same tee time slots on Mid-April date.  That's over 50% increase in two years.    I know courses are charging more, but a 50+% price increase and $140-150 for those two courses in two years?  Guess I've played my last round at those places.  Too bad, such nice courses, but IMHO, not worth more the $100 ish for each for that time of year.

 

Haven't looked at Glen Riddle Courses or some of the other OC courses, so maybe others have increased as much too.

I have only been to Myrtle Beach in the Spring.  They have implemented dynamic pricing, 
so if a course is busy rates rise, resulting in some big increases in MB.   
 
I go to OC in the Fall, where is see modest $10-20 increases over the last few years.   
  
I don't know if OC is using dynamic pricing, which could be getting you if not 
booking well in advance.   Another possibility for your increase is if you played 
Mon-Thurs last year and Fri-Sunday this year.   Fri-Sun are higher.  
2021 might have had CV discounts.  
 
Also you may have booked the Ruark Play 3 discount last time and are looking at the 
single round rates now.     Look at Ocean Pines, OC Seaside for lower rates.

Yeah, the rates have been on the rise for a long time.  I bring a group down in May every year and the rates average $225.  Course are always packed full so they don't have a problem filling the tee sheet.  I'm not a fan of some of the other tracks with the exception of Baywood Greens which is 30 minutes north.

The prices were pretty out of hand during the fall too. we have a house in Lewes, De and I mostly play The Rookery. Baywood at twilight pricing only lol. This fall Baywood was 238 for 18 in I want to say mid October. Absolutely bananas. I don't play OC that much but I love playing Lighthouse Sound.

Yeah?  Always pass by but I have never played there. We stay in AC our first night before we head to OCMD and we typically hit Baywood on the way down.  This year and we are hitting Baywood on the way back and I was just going to book Ballamor as I need to add a course our itinerary.  Maybe I should book Rookery instead 🤔

For me it is more nostalgia than anything else since I grew up vacationing in Dewey Beach and we would play there every year and have continued with that tradition. Short course, but a lot of variety and some really fun holes for sure - definitely good value. I'd recommend it if you want a change, but Ballamor is a notch above just in terms of upkeep and length, but more expensive as well.

Same here. It's always a 4 hour round and they keep it in pretty good condition given the amount of play it gets. It's also the only course that doesn't charge 100 bucks to play in the area.

The Rookery is a fun course but definitely not a course to go far out of way for. Just a really nice value Course imo. I play Baywood 4-5 times a year and it's a nice course especially with all the flowers but I would look into Plantation Lakes CC. It's a newer course and they probably have the best condition greens I've seen in the area.

Rookery is on the way down from NJ and we always pass by so I might check it out this year.  I never heard of Plantation so I will need to give it a go at some point, thanks.

If driving by I'd definitely check it out. Plantation is in Millsboro off of 113. So definitely can make that on your way back up.
