Value option for 5W with shaft similar to Aldila NV green 65-S

I'd been using a Hzrdus smoke shaft on a TM Sim Max driver and it had been HORRIBLE for me (6.0, 3.2 deg, 70g). I was given an Aldila NV green (NXT) 65 - stiff shaft and it was WAAAAAAAAY better for me.

I have the same Hzrdus shaft on my 5W TM Sim Max and want to get something similar to the Aldila. It looks like the shaft is ~$60 at PGA superstore or Golfworks... but by the time I pay for a grip and installing it on my 5W it'll probably be closer to just getting a used TM Sim Max 5W on 2ndswing?

Would something like a Fujikura Ventus Blue 6 be similar? There are a couple 5Ws on 2ndswing for ~$160. The SIM2 Max with same shafts are going for ~$200.

Fujikura Atmos - a few stiff options. Is it red? Dunno, I play R, but good shafts for the money.

If the NV is what works well for you - throwing money at a more expensive shaft isn't going to gain you anything.

The NV has been in continuous production the last 20 years for a reason. Mid to low launch with low spin and great dispersion. Golfworks has the latest version for $80. The previous version is $60. Cannot beat that value.

Actually, from what I've read that "latest" version is just a new paint job but still all the original design and tech. You're reference to the "previous" (NV NXT) version is actually the shaft with the classic design with the newest (or really newer) tech. One could also argue that the latest design/tech is actually the 2knv green (at only $55).

And yes, it is strange that the newer designs are less expensive than the classic design with a new paint job - but I'm not complaining. I have no problem spending less for newer.

I'm a fan of the Aldila "mid-low" profile shafts, of which, I'm under the impression, there are many. For example, the Rogue Silver and Tour Green. Is the NV Green the same?

It's subjective - but I've always thought of all of those as low. With the low-mid being the Rogue black and Tour blue, vs-proto, etc. However that's neither here nor there.

But basically yes, the original NV is the grandfather of those other shafts you mentioned. So they are definitely related. Whether or not that means they are close enough for your needs I can't say.

Here are some numbers comparing the classic NV to the original Rogue silver 110 msi.

They NXT gen are being cleared out on some sites as there is a new version out now (different paint scheme). Look around you should be able to find one on the cheap.
