The Perfect Senior Golf Ball

platgof

Recommended Posts

This is for those who do not hit it 250 yards on average, but more like 210-220 on average, or less. I played some Volvik DS 55"s yesterday and they are stupid long. Plus usually in the fairway. I shot my lowest round with them, a 76 as well. I just got my favorite golf ball in, the Yellow Triple Track from Callaway. I like these for the compression and greenside play, I also find them to be good on distance as well. I also played the Srixon Q-Star Tour and like it, but it seems to play a little shorter than the Chrome Soft. So, my pick is the Triple Track overall, but the Volvik DS55 gave me my lowest round so far. Something to be said for distance.

Callaway Supersoft is a great ball.

I am going to have to try that ball! I rejoined a course this year that I last played 5 years ago. The distance loss I am seeing is disheartening! Do you find it longer than others off the tee? I've never been a high spin player in the short game, so I feel I can accommodate for any lack of spin there.

I wouldn't say any of the balls mentioned are much longer than each other IMHO. I liked the Supersoft for the short shots and nice feel off the putter.

Did Callaway juice the new yellow Triple Track golf balls?? I am nuking them with my fairway woods! They did something because mine are long and very straight. Shot an 83 today with them, and on one hole I got a pull nuke that cost me big.  I hit some amazing drives today with it, something is up with these, and I like it.

I find it to be a little longer off the tee for me which is why I recently switched to it from using the Maxfli Softfi.

I've been playing the Callaway Chrome Soft and Maxfli Tour S and they are very close in performance with the CS having a little more spin when hitting into the greens.

Just ordered a test pack of the Snell MTB's (Prime and Prime X) and will also try the new Maxfli Tour in an effort to play a ball that's a little firmer in the hopes of a little more distance and spin.

I recommend the prov1x, srixon xv or diamond, callaway csx, bridgestone bx and taylormadr tp5x.

Despite the fact these seem to cater to high speed players that are mainly c0ck and ribcage. The data suggests they have a bigger edge for the Grey folk.

The Pro V1 X Left Dash for me or the Pro V1 X.   Whatever it takes to get it out there to 190 or less.  😁

i have played the ss most of the last 16 months. great ball for me. Shot a 62 with it january 2022.  The new one that came out in late January is a little longer for me off the driver, half a club on the irons.  I haven't tried the latest soft feel but I get the ss with pro shop credit so I will stay with that.

I have "senior" swing speed. My favorites for getting the best balance of long game distance, feel, and short game spin with my swing speed are ProV1, Snell MTB-Black, Vice Pro Soft.

I really like the Wilson Staff 50 Elite if the weather is cold and the course is playing soft/wet. If the course is playing firm they seem to get zero backspin from 125 yards in, compared to the other balls above.

That's the problem with some distance balls is holding the green when the weather warms up. I am really enjoying the CS yellow triple tracks as they are easy to find on the fairway. The Volviks are just unreal for distance though. I want to try the Wilson Staff Elite 50 after the comments.

I’ve been playing distance balls all my life. At 64 I decided to go with Maxfli Tour. It has been an eye opener on what is really possible with a urethane ball cover . Better distance and control. If I knew that I’d gone with the Titleist Pro V1 types years ago. My SS is around 90+

First off, the ProV1 is the best ball ever. That said... Callaway Super Soft is one of the best for the $$.

Great distance of all clubs. Predictable spin around the green. You can get a couple rounds out of it.

$25 per dz.

I wish I hadn’t said the above . After comparing the Callaway SuperSoft to the tour, the only real difference was? One went about 2 inches forward and the Tour went two inches backward. Can move the Tour easier but my game isn’t played that way .

My game doesn’t improve or worsen by playing a Inomer or Urethane on the greens I play on.

If you are a senior golfer like me, I'm 75, you should really give the new Snell MTB Prime a try.  I don't know how Dean did his magic on this ball, but it feels soft off the driver but perky when putting.  Had a really good round with it yesterday and decided it deserves to be in the bag for my next round.

I just loved the ball flight off the driver.  Also had a slight click when hitting with the driver which is very pleasing to the ears and good feedback.

I normally play the Chrome Soft (new version), but this was better in many ways.
