Stealth 2 3-wood - WOW

I went to PGA superstore to check the Stealth 2 Plus 3 wood. I tried it out and wasn't feeling it. However, just for the heck of it I tried out the regular stealth 2 with the Ventus Red TR (stock - no velocore) 6-S. All I can say is wow. I was getting more ballspeed, carry, and distance compared to my sim 2 with the Velocore blue 7-X shaft. The head feels WAY better than the Sim 2 max.

 

Now I am debating whether to switch out shafts. I may want to lower the ball flight a little bit. It gets windy over here. Either way I am taking it to the course tomorrow stock to see how it does. 

 

My only complaint about this club is that it is not a screw on tip making reshafts more difficult (just like my Sim 2 max). I couldn't compare apples to apples.

I really like the stealth 2, but the face just sits too closed for me and it gives me the lefts. When struck well, I think the ball flight and feel off the face are best in class of this years fairways.

You would be correct. Damn thing ballooned like crazy in the wind.

Yep. You need some heft in your shaft and a stiffer tip section. 7x ventus black tipped .5-1 in that head will be $

Definitely sounds like that'd be a LM stud, but perhaps not practical on the course. If you like the feel of the TR red seems like the 7X tipped 0.5-1.0 would be good (I suppose a 7S could work too if want a little less flex especially since it's a bonded hosel). Or if you like the softer handle feeling of the blue you've had before could do Blue TR instead. Are you able to hit the velocore versions, even if a different head, just to try out the feeling?

My previous sim2 has a blue velocore 7-x. I am just going to swap the shafts like I did with my drivers. It’s a shame the 3 woods don’t have screw on shafts. Guess they gotta make money somehow. 
 

both golf galaxy and pga superstore said it would take 2 days to do this. Gonna go to my local shop where they do it in a few hours.

I put on the Ventus Blue Velicore shaft I had on my sim 2 3 wood. Worked like a charm. Hit a green in 2 from 270 away with wind in my back. Nice mid flight.

 

Why waste 300 dollars when I already have a great shaft available?
