Need some help With 2 driver shafts

I need some help with something that been perplexing me and I want to know if its the shafts I am using, even though I feel like its probably not but I though I would ask to be sure.

 

 

I have used an old Callaway FTiz for multiple years now. Its got what I am nearly sure is a made for Fubuki 60 S in it. I have always hit this driver well, its probably the easiest to hit driver I have ever owned, its very forgiving and goes straight almost every time. Its the main reason I have used it as long as I have, I cant seem to find something to replace it with. 

 

Fast forward I manage to get a hold of a Rogue with an Evenflow 6.0 s 65 in it. I figure 8 years newer tech this should be at least as easy to hit and as forgiving while maybe giving me a bit more distance. Well, I cant hit it to save my life. High booming slices almost every time. I've tried different adjustment to the head to no avail, I cant get rid of the slice. Which is unfortunate because on the rare occasion I do catch a good one with it it goes and goes well, but I can do it with any type of consistency. So back in goes the old FTiz. 

 

edit  the FTiz is a 9 degree and the Rogue is a 10.5. 

 

 

So the question, could this be the shaft or do I just not jive with this club for some reason? I don't really have a stiff swing speed, I am usually dead on regular flex speed but for some reason I hit the stiff well with the FTiz, probably somewhat because it says stiff but it probably really isn't . Also my driver swing can get a bit fast and jerky so maybe that's why the stiff helps? Who knows?

 

 

Either way would it be worth it to try a different shaft in the Rogue or should I just part ways with it and try to find something else that works better.

You could Try a softer shaft with a softer mid and tip section. Lots of those older callaway heads had a closed club face at a address as well. Another thing is I would check the length between the 2. The newer drivers are longer than the older stuff. Up to an inch so that can read havoc with delivery.

PX 6.0 is likely much stiffer than your Fubuki and probably longer too.

 

I cut modern drivers down to 45", and in PX (which I don't own any of any longer) I preferred 5.5 flex as they just feel better to me.

Ok so it seems the shaft on the new driver is probably around an inch longer so maybe I should start there. The old Callaway is probably a bit closed but I can also close the Rouge and I have tried that and it didn't really help any. 

 

I am also not the tallest guy at only about 5'6" so maybe I should be running a bit shorter shaft anyway?

Well you definitely don't seem to jive with that club for some reason - but lots of possibilities for what that reason or reasons might be:

shaft stiffness, total club weight (shaft weight), swing weight (head weight), shaft stiffness feel, playing length, face angle - and that's assuming the grip is the same.

 

And it will take a lot of testing to pin down exactly what it might be - however, poor fit for playing length, face angle or weight (total weight or head weight/swing weight)  would be the more common reasons for what you're seeing.

Just a little FYI - not the way to look at the shaft.  The age of the shaft has nothing to do with how will it will perform for anyone and the shaft has nothing to do with forgiveness.

Rogue Max has a slight draw bias already, but can still close the face anyway if you prefer.

 

I'm 5'11" and play a 45" driver, as I have for years.  Center contact is much improved I've found with slightly shorter shaft.
