Served him so well (checks notes) that he's won 1 time in the last 6+ seasons.  Almost wonder why he didn't switch sooner.

Adam was one of the few who got absolutely fudged with the anchoring ban.  He's a great putter compared to us and even a scratch, but he is shaky at best compared to the rest of the tour.  He had a good run for about 3 years, 2013-2016, obviously with the major win and then several higher profile wins (Barclays, a W at Colonial, and then the back-to-back weeks at the Honda and the WGC).  I think he's just a man who likes what he likes (small blades) and he is willing to try anything in them to make them work.  I'm actually surprised he went to the PX LS, considering he has generally used smoother shafts for long periods of time (KBS Tour, Graphite Design, Ventus, and so on).  The LS are anything but smooth.  But I guess if you swing at 118-120 mph, nothing really feels that stiff anyways.

That’d be more of an issue than just a shaft change, wouldn’t ya think? Just take a look at poor ole Fowler for instance . One doesn’t have to win on a regular basis to have a nice career on tour. Although, it would’ve a great feeling and motivator for sure.

He's pulling a Fowler, lol. Get your fancy one-off custom blades made exactly how you want, tease a limited release, and then start swapping shafts in and out for some reason until to get fed up and go back to something from the previous decade(s). What do we think the over/under is on the 681s ending up back in the bag? 😅

So judgy. Lol!! But you’re not wrong. Lolol

To be fair he has played several different shafts in his 680's over the years too until he settled on the KBS Tours

DG, DG AMT and Project X LZ all had decent runs.

Chopped and changed his wood shafts too with the P95 being the only real long timer and the AD-DI making several comebacks. Kuro Kage, Project X evenflow, Motore Speeder, Autoflex, Ventus Red all had stints.

I thought Adam was a low spin, low launch player, so surprised at the change.

I dont like his irons anyway to be honest.

They have.  They have X7 which is twice as stout as X1, DG120, DG105, DG95, AMT White, now the Mids.  The problem is, I am willing to bet that there are a host of other shafts out there that probably fit tour pros a lot better, but most of them are sticklers for what they know best.  It wasn't uncommon in the 60s-80s to play whatever the stiffest and heaviest stock shaft was in the iron set you were using.  It only became common place to play Dynamic almost exclusively in the 80s and onwards.  I am sure it also has very little to do with a certain Tiger playing them and decimating fields on the regular, for the exact same reason you saw endless numbers of White and Blueboards in play, Scotty putters, and so on.  These profiles are not any different than most out there but for some reason they just caught on.

I'm surprised to hear he had a stint with the PX LS, I always thought he was a lower spin player off the irons. His approach stats as far as SG this season are pretty terrible so he's clearly searching.

It's not so much know best, as what sticks in a player's mind as feels the best.  You can have the right clubhead but not the right shaft for the head, so the player doesn't get the feel or needed visuals.

Totally agree, I preferred it back then. Custom stuff was way cooler than nowadays.

Nippon shafts were about then too though, the fantastic Super Peening. Also Apollo (Hump and others) were in many good players bags, and G. Loomis were the graphite iron shafts of choice.

Bring back Swix, Sabre, Sandvik Titanium, Flex-Twist Ceramic, Daiwa Metacarbo, Firestick, HM55, RCH36, and knowing someone was a player because they had a gold boron shaft 😄
