Anyone play light mid irons shafts and heavier short iron shafts?

Interesting.

I use MMT 125's in my irons, but when it came time to reshaft my 5U I went with MMT 105. Just wanted more speed/launch with the 5U and it has worked out well. My Epic Super Hybrid has an MMT shaft too, maybe 80 or 90g. So I guess I've done a very slight amount of what you're describing.

Sort of, ordered Ping i230 irons 6 - PW with the AWT shaft, lighter to heavier as irons progress.

I have two sets of apex.. one with 95g stiff and one with 120 stiff.... i put the heavier short irons in with my lighter mid irons and WOW

For the longest time, I had Tensei AV White AM2 90-96g composite shafts in 2-5i, and 125s in 6-PW, and 125tx shafts in Gap and LW, worked nicely too. Then that day came when my favorite MMT 125 composites had to give way to lighter weight MMT 95s shafts. What ever works for your game, enjoy.

Take a look at the True Temper AMT family. AMT stands for ascending mass technology: the taper-tip shafts are lightest in the long irons and progressively get heavier as they get shorter.

Note: AMT Red, the lightest, in S300 range from 95 grams in 3i and stablizes at 107 grams 8i and above. Increases in 3-gram increments until 8i. The other two models increase in 3-gram increments throughout set.

Have a backup set of J15CBs with AMT White shafts. I like the feel of my Modus 120s better, but there is something to be said for more weight in the short irons.

My current irons are AMT shafts and a few OEM's now are using them as stock shaft options or a free shaft selection on a custom order.

The TT AMT irons are a very good option if you’re looking to go lighter in the long irons. I’ve played the AMTs in the past and preferred them to constant weight shafts.

I’ve played steelfiber 95 in 5 and 6 irons, 110 in 7-PW and 125 in the 4 wedges in many set ups

I do the same thing with XCaliber Tour X shafts. 85 in the hybrids, 95 in the long irons and 105 in the short irons and 125 Wedge in the wedges. I use lead tape along the underside to increase weight from shaft to shaft to get to 2-3 grams per shaft.

Maybe @Cwebbcan chime in. I got the idea from him 10-15 years ago in the old Wishon forum. It used to be big with steel shafts mixing the dynalite in the long irons, TT XL in the miss and DG in the short irons. Blending shafts from lightweight to heavier weight usually accomplishes a slight flighting also since the heavier weights “typically” launch lower.
