Not sure why....maybe because I am 42....but all of a sudden I want to buy a 7 wood.  Anyone else have one for the heck of it 🙂

i’m 35 and have a 7 wood because it goes the distance i need to fill a spot in my bag as a short par-4 tee club and a long par-5 approach club 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm 31 and have a 7 wood. Just bagged one this year and wish I did it sooner. Such a versatile club and I swear it's almost impossible to hit a worm burner.

I've thought about it myself...though not sure what I'd use it for. I love my 4H. It's my security blanket club.  But a lot of people swear by a 7W.

Buddy of mine loves his, in fact I just picked him up an older Callaway 9 wood for him to try out.  Personally, I've never cared for fairway woods, and on a several of the local courses I won't even carry a 3 wood.

You won’t regret it. Best equipment decision I made when I added one 3yrs ago.

I have one but I'm not sure that I'm thrilled about the larger head off the deck. I'm thinking about going back to a 3 hybrid but I'll give it a couple of months.

I added one to the bag last year, always had trouble hitting hybrids.  The 7 wood has been a good move for me.  Have a few buddies that borrow it when we play for getting out of the rough.

Was always a "hybrid guy" growing up, then tried out a 7 wood after I got back into the game. Really nice security club for me and flies higher and straighter than most hybrids I've ever played.

 

Recommend something low profile, so the G425 7 wood worked well for my game.

Bought a G430 7 wood last month. So nice to not have to worry about quick hooks with my hybrid anymore!

Just played the first round with a TSR2 7 wood. Went with Tensei Raw white 85 shaft and so far so good. Only it twice today but looks to be the 230 yard shot I was looking for. 5 woods going too far for my gap and hybrids run out too much on these Arizona greens.

I saw you have a 22* hybrid and a 7w. What roles/distances do they play in your bag?  For some reason I thought they would be the same disance...

I tried a 7w fitting a couple of months ago at GG but they didn’t have squat for shafts (for me) to try.  I was bummed but still in the hunt.

 

I want that 230-235 high floater.  There’s some long par 3’s and a few par 5’s with front bunkers that have been mocking me and my 3 iron over the years.

 

Its PAYBACK time!!!

My 7wd goes about 200-205, my 4hy goes 185-190. I play my 7wd at 19*

Definitely. The PGA Tour is full of them. And they're even better for us non-pros. The 7 wood stigma died a long time ago.

I posted a similar thread here about a month ago and asked for the pros and cons of going to a 7 wood vs the hybrid I was gaming. Decided to replace the 20° hybrid I had with a 20° 7 wood and couldn’t be happier. Hitting it higher and when hitting into greens holding them much better. Far more consistent contact overall.

I love my Hy-wood, but the 7-wood gets so much love that I've been curious.

 

The Hy-wood is kind of a Frankenstein club. It's essentially and 18* hybrid head but has a longer FW wood like shaft - playing 1/2 inch shorter than a 7-wood. I hit it 20-25 yards longer than my 4H.  It's actually the next club after my driver.  I originally loved it because I always struggled to hit a 4W or 5W consistently from the deck.  I feel like a 7W could be even better as an option from the deck.  But I'd probably turn down the loft as well.

I always hooked hybrids, and just kept long irons or driving irons in my bag. When PXG had the older 0211 7W for $89 I bought it for the heck of it.  Love it!  Cranked it down to 19.5 degrees, and sold my 5W.  Its basically like a fairway utility wedge. So versatile. I wish PXG made a 9 wood.

I used to carry a 3hy and a 4hy. I tried a 7wd for fun, and I just can hit shots with it that I can’t with a a 3hy, or any other club for that matter. It’s my best club in the bag.

Me too.  I keep looking for a good used G425 7 wood.  If they are as good as the 5 woods, I will be happy

Insanely easy to launch off the deck. It's like a pitching wedge that goes as far as a 3 iron. Can choke down and hit fun little partial shots, too. Downside is it can really get swallowed up hitting into a headwind.

That is a fear of mine playing in Texas. You pretty much can count on a 15-20mph wind with gusts 25-30 4 months of they year....with a good chance of it being windy any random day the rest of the year. (unless it's 103*.....then suddenly it's dead calm.)

 

I'm curious about one too. May take a flier on a cheap one just to see what the hype is about.

I used a 7 wood recently for a sort of 2 club challenge for all shots from 140-230, and it was a lot of fun. If you like fairway woods, get a 7 wood.

Love my 7 wood - never liked a hybrid (duck hook every damn one of them despite straight ball flights on everything else), and was on the fence about a 3I/Utility as I couldnt find one that suited me - got talked into trying a 7W and never looked back - definitely worth a try. Its taken me a while to get the confidence with it and find its place in my bag (I've been substituting using 4I off the tee for so long), but its become my go to club on tight par 4s - need to tee it quite low, but a lovely trajectory and consistent ~235 club for me at 21* - I didn't like the Ping option and went with a Cobra LTDx. Took it out on a par 5 today for that approach and wowza... managed to hold on pretty fast sloping green from ~245 out. If its windy, I'll favor my 4 iron as I can get a low trajectory out of it - but with new irons coming and the 4I being a 21*, not sure what I'll end up doing there.
