Wilson Sandy Andy Head Removal?

I’m looking for advice on removing the head from a 1961 Sandy Andy wedge. Standard heat and twist doesn’t work. I see a dimple that looks like it might be a pin (or a ding) but it doesn’t budge when tapped. I bought a 3/16 steel rod from Home Depot and will try to tap it out from the inside, per similar posts. Does anyone know if those hosels were threaded?

The heads are not threaded to my knowledge. These older Wilson heads were swagged in and are notoriously difficult to remove. The swagging obviated the need for them to be pinned. To pull one of those old heads you need an excellent shaft puller and a lot of patience. Best bet is probably to take it to a club repair person and pay to have it removed. Saves a lot of frustration.

Quite likely pinned and the shaft is also likely dimpled. So you need to get rid of the pin or the possibility of a pin, which means drilling down to the bottom of the hosel (careful to not drill into the hosel by going too far) by going thru the butt of the shaft. When they dimpled the shaft back then, it was most likely hammered into the hosel and is now a mechanical fit. It is going to be very difficult to remove. You most likely will end up drilling out the shaft to remove it.

This might be a lot of work for an ancient sand wedge.

Many thanks for the help. Truth be told, this is a friend’s club with sentimental value. I said I thought I could refurbish it. Now I’m so far down the road there’s no going back. I’m such an idiot.
