What is the best Bag you have ever played?? Each Club?

MichMan123

Recommended Posts

The best of the best you have ever played... Any mix or clubs, any year ... what is the best?

For me:

Driver:

Ping G10 with Blueboard. Never never hit a longer driver.  Runner up M2 with Tour AD.

Fairway - M2 4 Wood Tour AD Di7.  I loved it.  OG Rapture 4 wood close.

Ive never played a hybrid I would consider great.  The best I've used probably Cobra not sure the name.  Speed Zone maybe from a few years ago with the Steel Shaft.

Irons - MP53.  Easy choice.  Runner ups - Ping I20 with S300 or the latest T100s.  The last T100s are amazing.  Also loved the OG Nike VR Split Cavity Irons.  So pure.

Wedges - Sm2 Red Saw.  Unreal.  Would Pay 1G for a new set.  SM9 also amazing as well os the OG Nike VR Forged wedges - they would rip the cover off any ball.

Putter - Maybe OG 2 Ball with A line I drew with a Sharpie.  Or my Black Newport 1 maybe 10 years ago.

Thats it!

Driver - Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero with Aldila Rogue White 130 MSi x flex. Head weights changed out to 6g front and rear. Only other that came close was a Cobra F6+ with Fujikura Pro.

3 wood - Srixon F65 with PX Red 6.0. The most automatic 3 wood ever for me.

5 wood - Ping i10 with Aldila NV green.

Hybrids - Adam’s Pro

Irons - Toss up between Srixon ZTX2 and AP2 714s. Both with PX Rifle 6.5s. Still own both.

Wedges - no idea what they were. Blank heads other than lofts on the sole. Old pro at my club brought a big box back from Korea and they made my SM5s at the time feel like toys.

Putter - my old TE3 Scotty that I can’t bring myself to put a non Scotty grip on.

I’d say my current bag BUT I’d swap my irons for my Taylormade RAC LT or my mizuno mp32 from my time at university.

This is WRX who plays clubs long enough to make that decision 😋

Lol

Same.

OK but i do love my current setup.

Driver

Ping g430 lst 9.0 tensei raw white 65x. I thought my old Mavrik sz was long, but this ping is a killer, it's a little finicky, but if I hit it clean it really goes. Hit longest drive into fairway of my life last week. 332 right down the pipe.

Runner up.

Callaway mavrik sub zero 9.0, aldila rogue white 70x this was an abosulte beast, I was avg around 270 off tee for two years with this club then all of a sudden I just lost my driver swing and went through several different drivers to try and find it.

Still a little erratic off tee, but my avg off tee with ping lst is 278, with 43% fairways hit. My goal is to keep or increase that distance and get fairway hits up to 55% or so.

Fairway woods

Although I do not play them anymore, I used to love the mavrik sz 3+, 5 @ 7w

Hybrid

Here I am torn, I currently have the ping g430, 4 and 6 hybrids in my bag, and I like them, and I want to keep them, but I am feeling little lovesick over my Mizuno clk hybrids.

I had the 2 at 14 deg, 3 at 18deg, and 4 at 22 deg.

Really I only miss the miz 2hy.  The ping g430 2 hy feels more like a 3 wood to me.... Too early to make any decisions I just played about 5 rounds with them, but I do have mizunos on stand by.

Irons

I have to  choose  my current gamers, Mizuno Jpx923 forged.

Played the 919 hot metal, 919 forged, 921 forged and now 923 forged. Callaway, rogue cf18, mavrik max, mavriks, Diablo. Forged, steelhead x14, ( first set I ever purchased)

The only thing I might missing  a little is  the kbs tour 105 black. Shafts I had in the 921's. Currently gaming dynamic gold 105 s300, and I do like them, but I loved the kbs tour 105s.

I hit a ping i210 with project X io 5.5 yesterday and I really liked those head and that shaft.

Wedges

Mizuno s23 54 and 58 deg are my current gamers and I like them, never really fell in love with wedges, but I like these enough to shop for a 48deg gap wedge replacement..

Putter

Odessy white hot #7 rounded mallet. I hope I got the model Number right. That was the first putter I actually purchased and I loved that thing.

Current gamer is Mizuno m craft omoi, #2  white satin chrome.  No comparison, the Miz is absolute artwork. It's not only flat out gorgeous, but it's heavy, solid, soft and subtle.

I love this Mizuno  putter.

Driver: Ping G30 LS with stock Tour shaft.  That thing was dang near point and shoot.  If I could bottle the first year I had the SIM with Aldila Rogue Silver 130MSI then that would be the winner though.  It was long, straight, and I could do no wrong.  Current Paradym I just got but the fitting numbers seem encouraging so I can't pass judgement on it yet.

Fairway: I have always got along great with most fairway woods.  Again though, if I could bottle my Rogue Sub Zero 18* and also transfer that to a 3W then I would never have hit a better wood combo.

Hybrid(s): Nike Sumo2 20 & 23 or Mizuno CLK 2019.  Both were so easy to hit high and soft.

Irons: MacGregor NVG2 Mid for performance, Nike Vapor Pro Combo for looks and feel and just general drool factor.

Wedges: Ping Glide 2.0 ES Stealths

Putter: Ping i-Series 1/2 Craz-E Belly putter.  This brings me to a rant about the USGA and R&A.  It's not cheating if all players have the opportunity to anchor, but choose not to.  Banning anchoring ruined the careers for Carl Peterson, Tim Clark, and Adam Scott.  The same goes for allowing carts (use it if you want, don't if you don't --- simple).

For me, and this list is always changing:

Driver - Cleveland Launcher DST.  Was a beast.  Alignment stick went under headcover and scratched crap out of it.  Too OCD to keep.

3 wood - TEE C722.  best I've hit and in the bag

Hybrid - TEE C721.  Oldest club in the bag, which says a lot for me.

Irons - Ping S57.  Sold when USGA changed grove rule.  Wish I still had them.  Had my first ace with them.

Wedges - Snake Eyes (original when forged by Smith and Wesson). Butter soft.

Putter - Odyssey stroke lab #7 Armlock.  Sold it but might be going back.

I was just thinking of starting a topic like this, so I'm glad I didn't! Most of mine are what's currently in my bag...Actually my dream bag for the most part. 3W & wedges are my weakness.

Driver: Cally Rogue ST 🔸🔸🔸 S w/ Matrix F6M2

3W: Cally Epic Speed 🔹🔹🔹 w/ Matrix F7M2 <- This one has the adjustable hosel and 2 sole weights 🥰

Adams Speedline Proto 1300ss and Sonartec SS-03 are also faves in the 3W department

5W: TM SIM2 w/ Matrix HD-7

Hybrids/Driving Irons: Adams Super DHy 18* w/ C-Taper 120, 22* Adams Pro Gold PNT w/ Matrix Altus Tour

Irons: Cally Apex Pro 19 Dots w/TT Elevate Tours but my Golden Ram Tour Grinds are right up there. Played them for years!

Wedges: Original Cobra Trusty Rusty 53*, Ping Eye 2+ (no +) LW was probably my best/favorite combo ever but also love the Mizzy s18 set or the Sonartec Proto t35...Ok and the Cleveland RTX ZipCore Tour Rack and the ZipCore Full Face LW 🤣

Putter: No doubt my Odyssey 7 CH Works that I sent to Continental for the Xander treatment. I do have a Scotty Special Select Squareback2 that I love but just can't make the putts like I do with the 7.

My current bag is pretty darn sick (in a good way), but relative to my bag at the time

Ping TiSi: first driver that gave me that high launch, flat peak, look. Courses hadn't been lengthened yet and I was flying it over everything.

Ping G2 3 and 5 wood with grafalloy prolaunch FW: looked great and easy hit off of deck or tee

Wilson staff fluid feel irons: from the late 80's, wish I still had em, used to love working my way around the course with them. Let some pro talk me out of them and into ping zing 2's, of all things 😳

My current Yururi wedges and ping anser 2 putter have been in the bag forever, so have to go with them. Wedges have been reshafted multiple times, but the heads keep on ticking. The anser putter has been regripped to a midsize and some tape added to head to give it a more modern feel.

Isn’t it always going to be your current kit?  I mean, why would anyone play something now that’s inferior to something they’d played in the past?  🤷🏻‍♂️

Well to answer your question honestly from my point. I eventually cracked the driver and 4 1/2 wood. wore the VIP irons and wedges slap out. Today with my old age and injuries I could not swing any of those shafts today
