Who's still gaming OG Rogue?

I've had my original Rouge sub-zero for something like 3 years now. I'm feeling the itch for something new. I'm thinking about rolling the dice on the original ZX7. I'd probably go back to all titanium and grab a TSR2 if price wasn't a consideration. Right now my G30 has benched the Cally due to bad behavior. So anyone out there stuck with their Rogue?

Yep,  2018 rogue Driver here, not sub zero.    As swing speed declined its reshafted with a lighter shaft and working quite well. Had a fitting with Callaway recently and after hitting maybe a dozen combinations of new heads and shafts, fitter told me he didn’t have anything better than what I’ve got, which honest opinion I found refreshing.

Rogue ST TD would be the logical upgrade in your case IMO.  Low spin and fade biased like the OG Rogue SZ.  I personally like the Paradym more but they are pricey.

Callaway AI Smoke Paradym 💎💎💎9* - Diamana BB-63TX

TM Qi10 Tour 15* - Diamana GT-80TX

TM Tour Issue Rescue 11 TP Deep Face Proto 16* - Ventus Black HB 9TX

New Level NLU-01 21* - KBS Hybrid Proto 105X

New Level 623-M 5-PW - MMT 125TX

Miura Tour 54* HB - KBS 610 125 S+, New Level SPN forged M-grind 58* - KBS Tour 130X

When I play I’m still using my Rogue that I bought in late 2018. It feels great (to me) and it gets the job done. No need to change at the moment.

I just ran into a buddy at the gym and he was raving about the Paradym, both driver and irons. I have a feeling he will add them to the bag soon. That will give me time to extensively test them out. Haha. I originally thought I was going to get an Aerojet since it performs so well on youtube. I just wasn't a fan of the feel off the face.

I had read someone say the same in another thread. My fear is buying something and seeing no discernable performance difference. I honestly think I need the right shaft to make the rogue come alive. I'm currently playing the Tensei AV Blue in stiff and it launches a bit high and I tend to find the toe side of center more often then not. The G30 with Stock TFC I find the center of the face a lot more consistently and get a flatter ball flight that can be sneaky long.

Maybe you should look at a low/low profile shaft.  If you like the feeling of the Tensei line, I would recommend something like the CK Pro Orange(counterbalanced) or white if your on a budget.  1K White or Orange if you're willing to spend more.

That easily could have been me. Last year did Callaway day (when Rogue ST was the new Callaway driver), and not only could they not beat my OG Rogue, but told me that it is the driver they most often struggled to find something better than when guys came in still gaming it. I’ve tried other drivers as well (including Srixon zx5 this year) and nothing outperforms it. I did love the feel of the zx5, but performance wasn’t really better. The thing with the OG Rogue for me is it is so consistent. I was driving pretty poorly for me yesterday (driver is a strength in my game so “poorly” is relative), and even on a variety of bad swings I found it to go pretty straight and get out there far enough. I don’t know what the type of forgiveness is called where the ball tends to stay straight/in play on swings that would hook/slice further with other drivers, but the Rogue has that type of forgiveness in spades for me.

A couple months ago I posted a thread about not being happy with my driver even though it was performing well and itching for something new. I apologize to my Rogue. I’m over that now. It has been performing great and I am all good with it. Not even thinking of replacing driver anymore. Along with my 3 wood, best clubs in my bag.

I think it was your post that I read so thanks for elaborating. The portion about the zx5 stuck with me because that was the club I was lusting after. Just goes to show you, sometime newer is not always better.

I did exactly what you are suggesting, replaced my Rogue Sub Zero with the original Srixon ZX7.

I sold the Rogue and then after a few months had to buy it back. I don't think the Rogue can be beat for distance tbh. I've still got it but now I mainly game the TM BRNR to hit fairways, its not as long as the Rogue SZ but I find it easier to hit straight.

A Callaway rep told me the Paradym heads are their fastest and having played a few of the heads in that lineup I do not doubt it. Definitely a special driver when it comes to easy distance and accuracy.

The same rep told me of their previous heads the Mavrik Sub Zero is the fastest.

Just played my og regular rogue for a round.. was as good as anything. Great driver.

I failed to mention that I am still playing the og Rogue 4 wood, reshafted with an Aldila Tour Blue. I even had it refinished this past offseason in a matte finish by Continental Golf. Not as many true 4 wood heads with bonded hosels around these days.

Great distance and control. The fairway woods are legendary too, stayed on Tour a good while.

Played a windy 9 hole round at a short track yesterday. There aren't too many holes that require driver but I did pull it out on three of the longer ones. Blistered a drive 256 yards into a 2-3 club wind. That shot alone may have earned it a little extra time in the bag or possibly keep as a backup. I will still probably buy a TS3 to experiment with. Really liked that club wen my buddy had it. I'm not a huge fan of the TSI or TSR.
