Bryson - 58!

Final round 58 at Greenbrier, after sinking a 39' putt.  New Krank driver and Krank 5-wood.  But his putting was lights out.  Averaged less than 1.3 putts per hole.

Not really surprised.  Both PGAT and LIV tours this week on courses that have yielded sub 60 scores in competition.  It's out there if you've got it.

He shot 61 yesterday so he is definitely in a groove.

It was a bit different watching him too.  It wasn't bomb and gouge style Bryson.  He still hit his new Krank driver a long ways, but a bulk of his tee shots were taken with a newly built Krank 5-wood.  Looked like he put a smooth 7-iron swing on it, and it would roll out to 300yds even in wet conditions.

 

And just lights out putting.

Pretty darn cool.  Once he got to 9 under I thought 59 might happen.  Anybody got any stats from the round?

58 on a Par 70 unbelievable ....some scramble teams dont go that low...plus he dropped a bomb putt on 18 to do it

No.  You take a guy like Bryson who can really move it and put him on a course like this and he's hitting it fairly straight and it can happen.  I'm not saying it's easy but it's definitely very possible.

 

Didn't see it but read he dropped a long one on his last hole to shoot that so I'm sure that was exciting.  Sounds like the Krank driver and 5W were working for hin.  When he can keep it between the ropes off the tee he can go very low with how far he hits it.  That's why I didn't really understand the chase for speed he went on - he wasn't exactly short before.

Played that course a few years back. I'm not a pro and it was not easy but a beautiful course to walk (definitely get a caddy). The resort itself is very old-school (which may be good depending on your personality), but the people there are super friendly.
