61-58..............historic.  Congrats to BD.    "China, Krank up the driver head production", every 101 swing speeder is now going to want a "Krank" driver.

LOL yep!  90 club head speed here, and I'll admit to hitting the Krank web site!  I guess there are different driver face thicknesses....umm....ok, surprised manufacturing tolerances are that precise, but whatever you say.

Ya, plus there’s the LIV 2-mulligan rule so definitely an * there

And gotta ding him a stroke for getting to wear shorts

But give him a stroke for having to listen to mumble-rap while he played

Kiddin! 🤣 BD aight in my book ; )

The main news page for GolfWRX has really outdone themselves on covering this.  Just the Tour Rundown article.

Where Bryson's name is mentioned in the headline, but not in the actual body of the article.  And only this mentioned in the opening paragraph:

"and in West Virginia, a 58 for the win was recorded on the LIV tour."

Well it's not untrue 🤣  But yeah, I would have expected a little more than that.

A few responses/thoughts:

1) Bryson was asked about his driver and his response was (paraphrasing) "It's great for anyone with ball speed over 175mph".  So yes, Krank will sell lots more drivers, likely to many (most?) people who have no chance of hitting them well.

2) Clearly the Old White is a course that you can go low on, but what BAD did was on a different level.  I think they started the round early due to weather so I stumbled on it while I was cooking breakfast and ended watching most of it. BAD was paired with Matt Wolff and was hitting it WAY past him. Like 40 or 50 yards past him. It was a master class in both power and precision. And he looks SO much better having lost all that weight. Let's see what happens next week, but if he somehow manages to keep his form and wins big on LIV again, it would be really, really, really hard to keep him off the Ryder Cup team.

3) Yes, Lucas Glover's win was super important to him and it was awesome to see a family man celebrate with his kids (also, now that he has a putter he believes in, watch out because he has always been a great ball striker, just had the yips). But the highlight of Bryson's final putt and his resulting celebration is also one of pure joy. Bryson isn't my favorite guy for sure but watching him jump in the air with the look of a kid who just came downstairs on Christmas morning to find a shiny new bike with his name on it was pretty damn cool.... even it was in a no cut event with preferred lies.

For those of us who have no chance of hitting Bryson's Krank driver very well, they also sell a version (non-conforming) with a thinner face that could go farther than a Titleist, Ping or Callaway.  I think.

It was a bit different watching him too.  It wasn't bomb and gouge style Bryson.  He still hit his new Krank driver a long ways, but a bulk of his tee shots were taken with a newly built Krank 5-wood.  Looked like he put a smooth 7-iron swing on it, and it would roll out to 300yds even in wet conditions.

And just lights out putting.

Thank you for the additional comment about the Krank 5-wood.  A noted golf architect made a big deal about how Bryson could hit his driver on the toe, or on the heel, and the ball still ended up in the fairway.  My assumption is that Bryson can hit the 5-wood far enough that he put himself into scoring position off the tee, numerous times.

(I might have to buy a Krank fairway wood!)

If Bryson shot a 54 someone would find a way to B....H about it.  Cmon folks 58!!!!!  The highlights of his final round was a showcase in ball striking along with great putting of course.

Does this scorecard indicate that it was an easy course?  Yeah for our famous WRX4 perhaps.

It wasn't just an architect, Bryson made a big deal out of it. Said it didn't matter where he hit it on the face, it was so stable that everything was ending up in the fairway. That sounds pretty awesome for beginners and for seniors that have lost some motor skills, sounds terrible coming out of the mouth of a professional. Consistently hitting the center of the club face should be a competitive advantage, not a skill diminished.

Pretty sure the USGA and R&A's ears perked up after that interview.

Amazing play from Bryson - you cannot take anything away from 61 -58 superb golf! It seems that his willingness to push the envelope to extremes has paid off - but only once he dialed it back a bit and found more balance in the parts - that may be the lesson here for everyone.

Well said.

I don't care for his swing.  And never have really.  It lacks a fluidity and elegance but you can't argue he get a lot out of it.

Ppl are beating a dead horse here. We ALL KNOW why. It is what it is at this point. Bringing it up just seems like an attempt to create drama. Isn’t there a soap opera on you can be watching???

Wake me up when Bryson does something impressive, like posting 55 and backing it up with 53.

These forums are hilarious sometimes.

It only counts if he used hickory shafted clubs: brassie, cleek, mid iron, mashie, mashie niblick and niblick. With gutta percha balls. With modern stuff 55 backed up by 53 is easy peasy and I'm just not that impressed by it.

Anyone know the total amount of feet of putts he made Sunday?  I only watched the youtube highlights, and other than the make from the bunker, it seemed like he was mostly outside of 10 feet for his birdie putts.  I don't remember the highlights having him stick it to inside of 4 feet multiple times like you sometimes see when a golfer gets hot.  It's one thing to constantly hit good approach shots, but to have to constantly finish it off with the putter on what is usually a 50% or less make percentage is what stood out to me, but I might have to watch the highlights again.

I watched him putting with a GC Quad Saturday before his round and he kept putting this right to left putt over and over for what seemed like 20 minutes with no hole or ending point there. It was very interesting to say the least. I know he hit the ball tee to green great on Friday and couldn't buy a putt so whatever drill he was doing before Saturdays round paid off big time then and on Sunday.

It's impressive, but not nearly as difficult ever since Gene Sarazen invented the sand wedge.

Since everyone is dogging me.  I get it - you’re impressed.  You know what would impress me more than Bryson shooting 54 with modern equipment?  Having a loving wife and kids come out to hug him after his victory.  That takes much more guts.  Again, JMO.
