what are peoples thoughts on Lucas Glover as a potential pick? Obviously the guy is on an absolute heater at this time, but the question I suppose is how long will it last? The in form guy at the moment for sure, but has he done enough the rest of the year and beyond.

Lets not get too exuberant on Glover simply because he's had a few hot weeks. Over the last year he's been in a downward trend. Fowler is still trending stronger in performance for example. You pick Fowler over Glover for sure.

Not sure this is where the argument will be for the final spot but they're ranked in the same place. Glover just won 1/3 of Rickie's career win total in 8 days including a Playoff win.  Top 6 in 5/6 events, admittedly though some second tier.  The reason they've gone to more picks is to take a hot hand like Glover.  In this argument I'd take Fowler today but that's dependent upon what they do the rest of the playoffs.

I'd agree. If Glover remains hot you go with him. But his multi-year downward trend only reversed 2 months ago. Is this reversal an anomaly or has he figured something out that's sustainable with his game? That's what I'd be looking for in the coming weeks before I'd say "pick Glover."

Agreed - Brooks' play has been average the last few events. 

 

Big week for a few guys besides Glover - Bradley / Burns / Young / Fowler.

 

Statistically, anyone in the top 25 could move up enough with a win in Chicago.

I think you have to take Brooks one way or the other, these are the types of events he likes playing in....big crowds etc. 

 

When Brooks is engaged he's easily one of the best 3-4 golfers in the world. 

 

The rest of the guys it's just rolling a dice. So much comes down to who is hot that weekend. Like i'm not sure you can go wrong between Collin Morikawa and Rick Fowler....They are both really good, and either could be awesome that weekend.

As for Glover I don't see a win as necessary criteria to make the team but I'd be looking for sustainable strong play that extends beyond late June 2023. Before that the guys game had been in a multi-year downward trend.
