Went 2-4 and with what has been going on, I didn’t really expect much from the NFL either, my results showed it.

For what it’s worth I thought I posted my picks on Friday. 
I had Baltimore giving less than a field goal.  
Chargers +5.5. Those games are always a field goal type division games until yesterday.  I think the Chargers coaching staff must be putting guys to sleep in the team meetings. 
And another easy pick Eagles in Philly with their defense -2.5. 
I should have posted a power play on that pick. 
I would have been +10. For the day. 
I thought I hit submit. 
was a very busy week at work and prepping for my god daughters wedding as usual at the last minute.

The season is wrapping up.  I played more golf than I have since the shutdown on 2020.  63 rounds, average score 77.3, high score of 86, low score of 69, HDCP heading into the winter, a delightful 3 as I have upped the cap to a 2.7 from a 2.3 before the weekend started.  After 25 years of suffering, my wife has informed me next summer we need to go somewhere in the states to play a little golf.  I believe the request was, I do not want to go somewhere that is so hot I might spontaneously combust.  We are looking for a place with some golf variety that I/we have never been before.  This precludes Monterey, Bandon, PGH, Boston, LA.  Any thoughts from the golf intelligentsia?

What does Houston have?  The news tells us everyone is moving to TX, but I can assure it isn't the golfers of the country.  They just don't have very good golf courses.  Nor do they have a very settled climate.  Carolina has Pinehurst, Biltmore Forest CC, Quail Hollow, etc. Everything points to a Carolina win, but ultimately, the Panthers just stink out loud.  Give me Houston -3.

Philadelphia -6 1/2  at                 Washington                    45

DC has a team with no real name, nor do they have an identity.  They have Congressional, and that's about it that I can think of.  Philly is an oddly hot spot for golf, but like all of PA, the public offerings tend to be anti-claimactic.  Aronomink and Merion?  Yes please.  6.5 points is about 21 points when it is a divisional game, but I just don't think the DC folks can keep up so I am taking the huge spread.  Its all in the golf courses on this one... Philly -6.5

Did I mention public golf in PA sucks.  Our intrepid steeltown resident @mshills is playing Lindenwood, Quicksilver, or he putting on his rock climbing crampons and playing Hickory Heights.  That course is as if someone said, "This is what it would feel like to be a mountain goat."  FL has some big name courses, but I never hear any great reviews.  Generally the reports are, it's flat, it's humid, and there is water everywhere with alligators all over the place.  Give me an Oakmont, Pittsburgh Field Club, Sewickley Heights, or St Clair and it is clear who the winner here is.  PGH +2

 

And there you have it.  It isn't scientific, but it always leads to a positive result for the pick 'em contest.

My suggestion on where to go next summer for a golf getaway is Northern Michigan. 

Plenty of course options and the weather is dandy mid June until mid September. 

I ask @puttnforthe8 to please chime in and give some recommendations as he has taken a few trips to northern Michigan for golf. Here are a few links to look at.

Yes indeed...N Mich is pretty cool.  I will tell you that the property and courses at Forest Dunes were my favorite for the pure golf part.  Arcadia has the 2 courses which is a nice trip.  Of course Treetops has multiple courses that are decent.
