Jones is always bottom feeding trying to replicate what Jimmy Johnson pulled off in the 90s. Giving up a 4th round pick isn’t a big deal, but Lance’s rookie contract will be up the same year Prescott’s current contract expires. What do you do then, especially when you have the same situation as SF: you haven’t been able to see Lance play because he’s been riding the bench behind your starter, so you don’t know what he can do. 
 

The only thing I can think of is hoping the stink wears off and some team without a QB decides to offer something more than a 4th round pick. 
 

Regardless, this trade totally blows up my Super Bowl prediction. My karma is now completely out of balance.

... You can't develop indecision and you can't teach confidence. One of the reasons I loved Cutler and didn't care for Trubisky. Give me a QB that can drop back and without hesitation throw the ball if the first read isn't there. If Cutler threw a pick you would never know with his next pass. If Trubisky threw a pick he looked like he needed written permission before throwing his next pass.

 

... Lance looks lost in the pocket if his first read isn't open. To be fair he is far from alone and quite a few that had success in college hitting their first reads couldn't make it in the NFL. Unless something radically changes, Fields will join that list. If he couldn't run like a Gazelle he would have already been benched. I am hoping the Bears have a potential Purdy lite with Tyson Bagent.

I am still here. I had a funeral to attend over the weekend blended in with a busy work schedule

I think I will take Philly and the Ravens 51 for the total

But this is not a significant conviction pick.

I like the Ravens if they stay relatively healthy.

Both teams have depth on the offensive line so that should bode well for their running games and the health of the starting QBs

I played a lot of city league football at QB.  At that level I didn't read a lot of defenses, although I would look to see where an immediate open area might be or where there might be an open passing lane... not that any of my receivers would go there.  We didn't do audibles.  Mostly I would look off DB's, maybe do a pump fake, then hopefully throw a completion.  But I do know the look of 4-6 guys scrambling around, trying to collapse the pocket, clawing to get at you.  And they're all bigger than you.

Since you are a director and I the actor, I thought maybe you played Center. 🤷‍♂️  I didn't mind the ones clawing to get at me, it was the ones I saw coming either on a blitz or a missed block when I had a WR open or one I could throw open and knew as soon as I released the ball I was gonna get hit that still wakes me up in the middle of the night a few times a year. You'd think since I haven't been hit in almost 50 years that would be a distant memory but some traumatic experiences just seem to stick with you. Funny I never seem to dream about throwing a TD, just the nightmare hits.

... Not really. That was the difference between a successful QB and the one destined for little playing time. And of course stupidity. There was a badge of honor and a ton of respect from your team mates watching film and taking a hit but still making the throw. There was also a ton of respect for "getting your bell rung" but staying in the game, which knowing what we now know about concussions, takes stupidity to a whole 'nuther level. 🙄

Picks Contest 

 

We will be making 3 picks each week.

I will post the Vegas line every Monday morning and we will be using that line to make our picks.

You may pick a side or a total. For example if the line is Tampa -7 vs New Orleans and the total points are 54 you may take Tampa -7 or New Orleans +7 or you could pick Under 54 points in the game or Over 54 points. So every game has 4 different picks that you could select from. 

These are the Point Values. 

A correct pick is worth 5 points.

A tie or push is worth +2 points.

There are Zero points for a loss. 

 

Announcing the Power Play. 

You may make a Power Play ONCE EVERY 4 Weeks ONLY. 

Example: A participant sees a pick that he feels strongly about and decides to designate it his Power Play. 

If his Power Play hits he wins +20 points.

If his Power Play pushes/ties he wins +5 points.

Now if his Power Play loses he LOSES -10 points. 

Once again The Power Play can only be used by a participant once every 4 weeks. 

The Power Play is optional, you do not have to use a Power Play. 

 

3 Dark Horse picks 

Select 3 teams that you believe will exceed the total wins for the season using the Vegas line I provided.  

each correct guess wins 10 points

 

Super Bowl Future pick

Name the two teams that will appear in SB LVlll and give the total points scored in the game. If both teams make it and you are within 7 points with your total points guess you win a 25 point bonus.

... One of the reasons GB fans can be way beyond annoying. They went from one HOF QB to another HOF QB. They should be thanking the Football Gods for the next 50 years because too many other teams haven't have one franchise QB let alone HOF QB since Favre became a starter in GB. As a Bears fan I appreciated Rodgers talent but never liked the guy. Watching him on Hard Knocks and no longer a rival, he seems like he has matured and I am all in to see him play to his potential and bring back some success to a city that really needs it.
