Head weight / SW SRIXON Utility / DG Tour AD Hybrid

Hello all.

 

I have a problem with the raw weight of a SRIXON 20° utility head. it weights 235gr and if I will assemble with a GD Tour AD Hybrid 95 shaft I need a 8gr shaft insert (the heaviest I can organize) to come even to D0.5

Shaft lenght will be 39.5 as supposed to be and grip is standart 50gr WINN. I completely not understand how SRIXON will bring this head to D3. I am unsure where I made the mistake, is the Hybrid shaft different balanced?

Only thing I can think of is that Srixon might add tungsten powder to the head to bring swing weight up.  Another option for you would be to add a ton of lead tape to the head.

yeah I guess this is the opion I have, the nice thing is, I can place the tape where I want to. I have 3gr stickers from Amazon at home that I can take it to the range. with 2 extra stickers I am back around D4

I was just wondering if there was a mistake of mine... before I glue the shaft I would like to know.

 

has anybody opend the hot melt port of the SRIXON head? would this make sense?

Not an AD-DI, but I went graphite on my ZX4 (-0.5” length, no less), and had to go with a 10g tip weight AND lead tape to get it to D3. Have seen a few pros with LT on their Srixon utilities, as well. These hollow body stinkers just don’t weigh anything.

😀 yes you are right. Wilson ist having this bis screw on the sole. Srixon has this hot melt port, that is why I am asking. But why the pros are using it with lead tape and not hot melt at the inside to heavy up a bit?

Hot melt is permanent, lead tape isn't.  In case they want to adjust the swing weight in the future, they can just mess with the tape.

That’s what I did with my Srixon zx. East to dial it in with a piece here and there

I added hot melt to my 23* utility and play it around 38.75" with a 110 Recoil Prototype Utility.  It came out to about D2 or D3 if I remember correctly.  I don't know what the raw weight of the 23* was, so I couldn't tell you how much hot melt I added to it, but last time I measured it, it was around 248g.

Yeah these Srixon utility heads are LIGHT, and that is largely because they base them around very low balance point graphite shafts (Recoil). The moment you swap over to something with a higher balance point, like a Graphite Design AD hybrid, you're losing 3+ swingweight points just due to that higher balance point. I've also had ZX utilities that were ordered over-length that are even lighter. Lots of lead tape, filling them with hotmelt, and often a combination of both is necessary to get to higher swingweights. My ZX Utility 2i is completely full of hotmelt and I still needed about 5 strips of lead tape on the back after that, but I prefer higher swingweights.
