Been a few months.  Wow...Sagarin Rankings are looking especially wonky!

Based solely on on course results one could argue Stricker has had the best year in golf of anybody. 5 wins (3 majors), 5 2nds, 2 5ths and a worst finish of 8th place in 13 events. His combined finishes in those 13 events total 33. That's ridiculous. Average finish of 2.54

 

His prize winnings are more than $300k higher the second and third place players combined. His last 6 events he has finished 1st, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd 1st. Maybe he should be on the RC team just for his putting. I'm really not kidding.

His 74% driving accuracy is impressive, but a 286 yard average off the tee will not get it done against the big boys.

 

It would place him around 173rd on the PGA Tour, instead of 18th with the old guys.

 

I don't care how good his chipping and putting are, nobody can give up that many yards on longer courses and compete on a regular basis.

 

Could he do well on some weeks on some courses? Of course. But in the long run he loses his card.

Take Brian Harman, for example. 145th in driving and is going to be in tough to keep his card past 2028.

Stricker drives it about the same as Brian Harman.

Great. My buddy I played with on Sunday outdrives both of them and he's a software salesman who shoots 80 on a good day. What's your point?

 

Why isn't he playing on the big tour making much more money?

 

He is killing it with the old guys...good for him.

 

He's not on the regular tour because he knows he would lose his card.

BTW, what I was reacting to was the rankings posted in a link previously showing Stricker as 26th in the world.

 

They have him better than (yes) Harman, Koepka, Matsuyama, and DeChambeau to name a few.

 

No disrespect to Stricker, but does anybody really believe this?

It's funny considering all the complaints about the Official World Golf Rankings you have 3 different alternatives offered and all are worse. 

 

Does anybody really think Cantlay with no wins all year is better than Rahm with 4 wins and a major? Same point to Schauffele, not only being better than Rahm but McIlroy also?

 

Alexander Bjork 12th best golfer in the world? A man who only played one major all year to tied 41st. Big Harrington fan but no chance he is the 20th best golfer in the world.

286 would have been top ten on the PGA Tour in 2000.  286 would have been second in distance on Champions Tour in 2000.

 

 

Those Sagarin rankings are wonky.  I am not sure in what world (other than the Sagarin world) we have Rickie ranked higher than Cam Smith.  Paddy is way up there too.  I ain't buying it.

Honestly, would love to see how Striker AND Harrington would do at the Ryder Cup.  However, very disappointed that Sticker skipped the Senior British Open...again.  Love that the Senior European Tour doesn't recognize the event formerly known as the SENIOR PLAYERS and the Tradition as majors. LOL.
