Mizuno ST-G Titanium Fairway

What are people using 3 or 5 wood? I am more of a 4wood player. On the fence about which one to try out. Guess I will go to my local shop and give it a go!

Put it up against my TSR3 -16.5 see what happens

I picked up the 3w to fill an empty spot I had. Gonna play with loft once I actually get it on the course…but will prob settle between 15-16

I hit one. I prefer the firmness for TM but it is a step in the right direction for mizuno. Soft feel and a rocket to boot. Not for me but they continue to move toward the right direction with their woods

Really curious about these. Currently in an ST190 3w and STZ220 5w both with HZRDUS Smoke Yellow 70 TS shafts. Great combos and they play well. Just curious if the soleplate on the STG would give me a bit more height for softer landings as I play these to greens on par 5s and super long par 3s sometimes.

Doubt it. St g is going to be much lower spin than st190 and lower launch

I purchased an ST-G 3-wood with stock LIN Q red 6F4 shaft,  and now have had the experience of playing it for about a dozen driving range shots and three rounds of golf.

It's a medium size head with medium face height. The impact sound-feel is very dense-muted, which I like very much. I've played this 3-wood off about fifteen tee boxes and like its accuracy.

At the standard 15* loft my tee shots seem to fly with little spin and strong bounce and roll after landing. Off a ground lie at 15* loft my shots have been straight with very low trajectory.

At 16* loft the tee shots have a bit higher trajectory and a draw shape. Off ground lies the 16* loft produces straight shots with medium trajectory.

This club is probably designed for a higher swing speed player than myself, but I like its looks, impact sound-feel, and shot accuracy; so my plan is to keep it.

Finally got mine on a GC Quad. Pretty much driver type numbers. 13 launch, 2200 spin, 152 balls speed, 250ish carry.

 

Love the size/shape and sound/feel. 3 wood is strictly a tee club for me on holes that call for a draw. I have never been so precise with a 3 wood that I need to be concerned about land angle and holding a green from 250+ or whatever. I will need to hit 3 wood off the deck maybe 0-5 times a year and "need to" is up for debate. Just want it to go far off the tee, feel good, and be draw-friendly when I am trying to hit a draw. This ticks all of those boxes for me.

Still LOVING it. Haven’t had it in the course yet as it’s Winter here still but everytime I hit it in my backyard net it feels great, repetitively hit the sweet spot and seems like it just goes. I have zero plans on messing with loft or anything as of now.

Hey man. How has the ST-G 3 wood been on the course? ST-Z has been good for me so far, but can get pretty spinny. Lots of good reviews on the ST-G fairway and wondering what it been like for you.

I've only played 2 actual rounds on the course with it...but its good for me.  I absolutely LOVE the Sound/Feel of it.  I've hit a few longer than expected shots with it and nothing bad so far.  I don't think its super low spin, but on the lower spectrum vs the STZ for sure.   Like I was telling you the other day, they really knocked it out of the park with all their offerings this year.  The driver STG-440 has been almost automatic for me...in 2 rounds so far I'm 22 of 28 fairways with it.  The T24 wedge is awesome too.  Feels excellent & great spin.

I have tried more 3 and 4 woods than I can count along with 7w, and as a descending AOA low ball hitter, they all go about the same distance. Thinking of just splitting the difference and going with this 5w. It’s too good looking to not consider.

Early in the season (now) I’m at the 100 mark or slightly higher…in season I’ll get up to 105-108 and I’m playing the 3w and it’s great. Thought about getting the 5w…but my Cobra F6 Baffler is automatic and I won’t get rid of it until it breaks

I play the 3-wood and have it set at 17*. For tee box play my preference is a 3-wood more than 5-wood. 

I have not measured my driver swing speed but at sea level, flat terrain, no wind conditions my driver carry yardage is 245 and my 7-iron carry is 155.

Went into a Mizuno fit recently. Fully expected to have better results with the MAX, but the ST-G 5 wood was phenomenal. Looks so good behind the ball and feels fantastic.

I have a 3-wood and am really liking it. The head is very small compared to most fairly woods these days. Which I really like. I was playing a hybrid as a three wood for many many years and this small head gives me that same look. Plus the titanium head makes it hot.

Played  9 holes with my new 5 wood today.

First on course impressions, kind of small but surprisingly forgiving, long, looks and feels amazing.

Honeymoon, yes, but this one could become my favourite club in the bag. It definitely has the potential!

Are there compatible weights available for this? I'd be looking to play the 5 wood a bit shorter, so some weight options would be handy.

I applied some lead tape to the sole of my ST-G 3-wood.
