Jpx923T vs 221/223 combo?

Wanting to go back to Mizuno, because they are nothing short of sensational when striking centre.

I play golf in Scaninavia so it can be dry on the summer and soft in spring/autumn.

Looking at a few robot tests the 923 Tour looks outstanding. Smallest group Ive seen when misshitting.

However, the 221 looks better and its a 7-P combo set Im thinking off.

Those extra degrees of bounce can be helpful playing a full season with 923T but the 223s have a little bit more help where I need it (5-6i). It can also help stretch the bag slightly.

I know my old MP64s with same bounce as 221 can be a shore playing in soft and wet conditions but maybe the 2 degrees extra on 923T is too neglitable to make a difference?

Gapping with 223s is also something Im worried about and possible fliers?

The 223s are very long and very forgiving from top to bottom. So much so that I can't imagine blending them with the 221s without having to carry two 6 or 7 irons in order to get the desired gapping.

I've gamed the 223s for 3 months. I don't personally believe they're designed to be blended with any other Mizuno iron. I don't believe the 221s and Tours were designed to be blended either. I also believe the 223s should be avoided if you're a good ball striker with a lot of speed.

I play the 919 Tours

I find the 5i a little too diggy unless the lie is perfect and will be ditching it at the end of this season.

Currently combo'ing with 18* & 23* driving irons (Srixon ZX MKII) without a problem. Could easily add another driving iron to replace the 919 5i, so I don't see why you couldn't combo with the 221s.

Wait for the Mizuno Pro 243. The club head size is smaller than 223 but a hair larger than 923T. They got a bit more bounce on them than the 223. They go thru the turf like 923T in short irons and in the long irons the wider sole than 923T in conjunction with extra bounce are at least equal (IMHO) to the 223 thru the turf. Plus you get the chromoly/1025E of the 223.
