P7tw irons vs p7tw tiger spec lofts

Question - are there separate molds for the p7tw stock irons and the p7tw tiger spec?  Meaning are they two separate sets of heads, or do they all start as a stock set, and the tiger specs are bent 2 degrees weak?

Thinking about bending a stock set 2 degrees weak and the idea of more bounce is fine, I just want to avoid onset.

I hit a a couple of shots with the stock spec this week and it was plenty playable compared to my set of mp 32s.   I notice the tiger specs are pretty much 1 club weaker compared to most sets so I’m intrigued by playing a 3-pw vs playing a 4-gw set.

This is a guess...    but I read somewhere that Tiger's irons are bent weak to take some of the offset out. That doesn't directly answer your question, but implies that they may be the same mold.

Again, a guess, I don't actually know. Might be worth an email to a sales rep?

Thanks for this.

i did try an email to tm customer service.  Their answer did not answer my question. It was more of a scripted response that appeared to be a quote from the p7tw iron page.

1) would a sales rep have the full info on what irons Tiger has in the bag?

2) would they be allowed to tell if they did and if Tiger’s irons were not the exact same heads as all other heads?

If you have the most influential player in the world playing your irons (as part of a sponsor deal), you would want the whole world to think/believe that you can buy those exact same irons.

Not just any sales rep. And why wouldnt they tell people? Jwunder has done a ton of videos saying tour gear isnt retail offerings. Doesnt seem like callaway gives two dumps about it. This isnt some national security issue. Tiger uses different metal shouldn’t surprise you.

I play Ping Blueprints and just ordered some Artisan Irons; they are modelled after TW old Nike Irons, chatting to them about them they seem like they are very similar.

The Artisan heads are heavy. Are the TW heads heavy?

Now are they the exact same who knows but the lofts are slightly weaker than normal MB lofts for today.

I think if you really want to play Tigers irons the TM TW ones are the closest you can get off the shelf.

There is zero chance that Tiger Woods plays off the shelf irons that are simply bent weak.  He's famous for being particular about his equipment, so there is no doubt that TM's R&D department worked with him extensively in building his irons.  Now, after all that, the P7TW's are almost certainly an adaptation of Tigers irons design, with revised lofts and who knows what else, to adapt them for mass consumption.  As stated above, they are as close as you are going to get to the actual irons that Tiger plays.  Be happy with that.

The most honest representation of what TW played at a given time is the T-Stamp. It's not radically different from retail brethren 681 but different enough. I have tour heads from other manufactures too and those are different. Generally the mass is moved higher and works better for swings that bottom 3" in front of ball with regularity. They tend to track better but at the expense of thin shot forgiveness.

The Nike VR ProII is the original P7TW, you could always just buy those. They are quite good and are beautifully made.

This is very informative thread.

I'm going with the p7 tw because of the ability to get a lighter head for an over-length build.  I was asking about loft cause I do intend to bend them 1 degree weak or possibly to tiger spec, but didn’t want to creep into on-set in the short irons.

I’m good with the metal being slightly different.  I do appreciate you can get lighter weight heads without removing weight from behind the middle of the clubface like some manufactures are moving too.

Two degrees weak will reduce offset by about .75 mm.  You would have to bend the heck out of the heads to create onset.

That is what I like to hear.  I’ll probably only go a degree weak to start.  .75 is about how much offset is in the pw at stock and tiger spec is bent 2 degrees weak.

in reality bending these clubs two degrees weak will give me a 3-pw that plays at my 4-gw lofts without much offset and with a touch extra bounce.  Excited for the experiment.

Although he did used to play a 58* wedge, bent to 56*
