Here’s another safety tip- when you walk on the green and send your cart to the other side make sure it actually turns off when you hit the off button

It’s a good thing the Navigator is sturdy or idiots like us would break them.

... I have owned too many of them to remember and the absolute worst thing you can do is get comfortable with a remote cart. I keep mine a few yards in front of me and it is mostly automatic, like walking and I don't have to think about it. But anything other than a relatively flat fairway deserves a wary eye and I have grown accustomed to going to a manual mode when traversing anything that can cause a potential tip over.

... And great point that can't be over emphasized always make sure your cart comes to a stop before turning your attention to golf or friends. It is such an easy mistake to make especially when it is in line with your sight and you think it stopped and can lead to catastrophic results.

I bought the Alphard Club Booster V2.  It has a gyroscope and remote and I have taken it through No some rough terrain and never had an issue. You do need to buy or retrofit a push cart, but it was a simple process.  They do go on sale from time to time, but at full price it’s $800 plus the cart you purchase (I spent $150 on Amazon).  @DLeightonReid and I have the same set up and so far we are both happy with it and each of us had a service issue and we’re resolved quick and harmless.  They do have a thing called the sidekick which will allow the cart to follow you.  I didn’t buy but DLR did.  I would buy again, and if interested I might have a $50 coupon.

Yes, like Big Fish, I am very happy with the Alphard Club Booster V2.  I don't use the SideKick accessory, which enables the cart to follow, because I prefer to have the cart out in front of me, where I can keep an eye on it.

Hey, a couple of “tips” to keep in mind.

1. It is really tempting to send the cart way ahead of you when you are walking down the fairway with only a small remote in your hand; don’t do it!  There are drains that you can’t see, small depressions, etc, that WILL turn you cart over.

2. Along those same lines, if you are going to send the cart toward the next tee while you walk straight to the green with putter in hand, be sure you n

know what’s on the margins of the hole.  On the los side there can be more of those pesky drains, and on the high side slopes that you don’t really see.  It also tends to be less maintained and rougher terrain; it’s better to walk the extra steps that to risk damage to your stuff, and the cart is still doing the work anyway.  Same goes for crossing cart paths; keep your hand on the handle!

3. Be SURE that you have the extra wheel extended on the back to prevent tip overs when going uphill.  Over time, I’ve made two other adjustments to this as well.  I carry a Yeti thermos in one of the two front pockets of my golf bag, and a sand bottle in the other; the added weight down low on the front really makes the buggy more stable going uphill.  Plus, I drink more water AND have a sand bottle with me at all times; both good things.

I really only wanted a electric cart for one reason. I didn't want to have to push the damn thing up all the hills we have at our courses.😅

I had the QOD for 5 years before motor broke.  It folded up small and was very like with 4 wheels but no remote or follow function.  Battery was a tank 36 uphill easy.

I have the Alphard now.  Front wheel swivel on cart makes a big difference for maneuverability.  Not as easy to setup or take down as the QOD, but remote is all the difference in the world.  I think a follow feature would be slightly scary.

Battery is like a round a half.

Overall, love it and price is really good.  I paid $1299 for the original QOD in 2019...

I also purchased the Alphard V2. Overall I’m happy with it and I really like the freedom to walk wherever I need to.

You need to maintain it somewhat. Check that everything is still screwed nice and tight. I have replaced the brackets that go with the cart on mine because it came loose mid round (the screw was too loose). Good thing is you can buy replacement parts.

Assembling/dismantling for every round is a little nuisance but it is what it is. I recommend also buying the travel bag to make it easier.

Finally, make sure you get the extra wheels to stop it flipping backwards. And the other thing I’ve done is purchased a bottle to carry sand rather than a sand bucket. If you’re using the Rovic/Clicgear carts the hook for your sand bucket is right on top of the button that powers the Alphard. Sands gets in the crevice and then you can’t depress the power. Small gripe but just something to consider

After years of using a push cart I bought a pretty basic Powakaddy a few months ago.  I haven’t regretted it one minute.  Our course is more undulating than hilly but, with one artificial hip and one arthritic one, I’m enjoying my golf (particularly the back nine!) a lot more.

I deliberately didn’t go down the all singing GPS/remote/follow me route.  I’d rather use a GPS watch for starters and the remote control things just sounds like an unnecessary complication for very little real gain.

For just about $1K you can be in an Alphard V2 with Omnicart.  Advantages:  wider wheel base, gyro braking for sidehills and steep downhills, swivel front wheels, and a couple of Alphard accessories available removable seat, side follow Sidekick, sand bottle.  You can't go wrong.   Been using one for about 1-1/2 years now totally trouble free > 150 rounds of golf.

Bought the new ZIP Ai Navigator in August and it's probably one of the best golf purchases I've ever made.  I walk probably 75 rounds/year and this makes it much more enjoyable.  Plus, with the Ai version, it has a pretty decent GPS screen on the handle and I rarely even take my laser out of the pouch.  All in all, no regrets.

Got one to replace a Clicgear 4.  Still deciding if I like it.  It’s been out twice and it handled everything I threw at it.  Goes over curbs, handled some deep potholes in the rough and kept on trucking.  Battery life is insanely good.

The free accessories are sitting on the shelf.  Only thing actually used is the phone mount and cup holder.

Trying to find a high quality bag to put on it now.  Lots of trash out there, sadly.

Keep it and try it in July.  I think you’ll find that the heat of the summer matters a LOT.

I had an Alphard/Clicgear combo (with the front swivel kit for the Clicgear) for the past two seasons.  It generally worked well and I enjoyed using it.  My biggest complaints with the Alphard were:

  • Battery life - battery lasts for about 27 holes max.  So you either need to recharge after every round or buy a spare battery and swap them.  Unit is very heavy to push in "freewheel" mode if the battery dies.
  • Durability of front swivel kit - swivel kit works well but isn't durable.  Mine fell apart twice on the course and had to be repaired.
  • Assembly/disassembly before and after every round - my course won't store pushcarts so I had to keep it at home and bring it to the course.  Putting it together and taking it apart before and after every round got to be a bit of a chore.

After this past season I gave the Alphard unit to my nephew and I got a Motocaddy M7 remote.  I used a Motocaddy on a golf trip earlier this year and really enjoyed it.  Battery life should be a bit better and the single unit means less time spent dealing with it before and after the round.  We'll see how it goes.

I’ve gone through 4 bags before settling on a Titleist 14 Hybrid. A problem is stand bags tend to rotate and end up sideways. I eventually put a Clicgear bag cozy on it and that solved the problem.

I will say, its the one brilliant thing about Motocaddy and their Easilock pins - you can put your bag down without even needing the bottom strap, its completely unecessary and the bag doesnt move.

Summers are Michigan warm.  I spent a bunch of time behind the Clic and no big deal.  Here in Houston?  Nope, it’s why I go back north in April.  🙃

My father-in-law bought one these a few months back.  I believe it is a MGI Zip Navigator.

I'll tell you what, I can barely keep up with him now.  He never has to walk back to his bag after holing out. He flies down the fairways.  He is 66 and I am 32.

So if you are interested in buying one, I would do it.  It takes a lot of steps out of the round.

Looks good. I prefer a stand bag for range use thus the problem with the legs. You won’t have that issue.

Just throwing this out there. I have the Alphard eWheels V2 which I likes but both my batteries died within 6 months of thier initial use. So for a year now it has been collecting dust in my garage. I have been now just pushing a cart available at my club. I miss having it but not sure if I want to keep investing in batteries. I was a early adopter from the crowdsourcing launch.

That seems odd. I’ve had mine for over 18 months and still on the original battery. How often do you play?

Did you talk to Alphard?

They probably were. I meant to reach out after the first battery but I had a back-up. Seemed like more of an inconvenienve than to just switch it out.  Once that one had also stopped holding power, I decided to give up. This same thing happened to my brother with his battery between both of mine. Some people seem to not have this experience, but I was just sharing mine. I am choosing to go ahead and purchase a MGI or MotoCaddy instead.
