The “PROTO” font reminds me a lot of the font TaylorMade uses…Wonder if there’s a potential partnership there.

That would be rad and maybe make it somewhat affordable.  Olson putters weren’t within the realm of what most golfers would consider affordable before Scotty, l can’t image them getting any cheaper after.

I can't imagine that a partnership between a large OEM and a boutique putter maker would result in a maintenance of quality, at least from an aesthetic standpoint.

tp mills with Spaulding,  tad moore with Maxfli, Bettinardi with hogan and Mizuno, Toulon with Odyssey, and Cameron with Titleist.

The top alignment lines are great, easy to frame ball placement and dial in aim point. I did something somewhat similar on my recent blade purchase and it's greatly improved my putting with these type of models.

The milling and grinding may not be quite as refined on this one, but Scottie’s putter from Olson reminds me a little of this older anser style from Von’s, especially the front and rear bumpers. FYI, has been in the basement a long time.

His instgram post sayin he is back and has been working on big things had a lot of likes and comments from TaylorMade employees and Johnny Wonder saying "that's why you don't call me back". My first thought was TM brought him in-house like Toulon/Callaway.

Before Olson went dark for several months on instagram he shut off his custom orders as his list was over 18 months to get a putter made. He makes a world class putter.

I wonder how many $1600-2000 putters the golf world can have, but I say that with no doubts this looks great, and so does Nelly Korda’s new putter. 
 

End of the day my actual frustration is how different the stuff on shelves is from this.

Yeah I can definitely see the similarity. If you kind of squint, blind-fold yourself, turn the lights off and go into another room of a different house, I can totally see it.

Wild that people will pay that much for a mass produced “custom” putter. IMO I don’t like the look but why anyone wouldn’t have a true 1 of 1 made for them exactly how they’d like from any of the top makers. And you’d have money left for a putting lesson lol.

Only two putter makers on earth I can think of that make true one off designs is lumpy and Lamont Mann.  Most are just modifying ansers , 8802s and #9 shapes.  So that isn’t really as easy to find as you think.  ( I’m sure I’m missing an obscure maker somewhere)

I can totally appreciate Made in USA, hand work kinda stuff when it comes to putters. Happy to pay the price. One part made in Dontknowigstan and another in Bumfuqegypt is kinda meh. Everything is so disposable.

There’s plenty out there that will make whatever you can dream up that’s feasible. And stamping, neck design, Damascus, insert materials etc. everyone knows a true custom is far cooler than pretending a bulk made batch of hundreds of putters is a handmade one off.

Not really trying to argue.  But I don’t know about that.  Not too many guys make truly new shape putters.  Much less actual handmade.

Can still get a T.P. (David) Mills or Tad Moore handmade, unfortunately can’t get a handmade from Byron Morgan anymore 😢 

Serge DeChampes @sergizmomakes some great stuff as well, and he can even put up with @MtlJeff 😂
