Bryson vs Sergio. “One Club”

Yuck

Recommended Posts

I loved that video as I’ve been a fan of Sergio’s ball striking since day 1.

I’ve seen more positive comments about this video than any other golf YouTube match so that makes me start to ponder if the pga tour should look into lowering the number of clubs you are allowed to carry?

Some have already suggested that instead of rolling back the ball and after seeing this I think it could be a viable alternative or even addition. Something like this would definitely be more entertaining than straight shot after straight shot.

Kinda surprised there isn't a "Youtube Golf" sub-forum on the WRX.  But this seems like a place to post this:

Rick Shiels plays a pro, where he starts -10 and the pro starts level.  He's done vids with Tommy, Ian, Lee etc.  Vid with Bryson just got posted:

Different players would rise to the top of the game with a dramatically limited number of clubs.  The Sergios, Bubba’s of the world would have an advantage.  While we are at it, add a limbo wire a ball must pass under or a pole the ball must pass left or right of to add shotmaking interest.

Sergio was never that likable, but since I do not watch LIV, it was nice to watch Sergio’s ball striking again.  Still looks solid at his advancing age…….

Yep. Nice to see him post retirement one more time .  Somebody has a set if his irons on eBay.  This might get them bid up over $600 or so

He made over $6 million in on course earnings last year, so I guess our definitions of retirement are different. Seems to me he’s still playing professionally 🤷🏻‍♂️

Announcers aren’t playing golf, thats silly! 😂

But I didn’t realize that players on LIV were gifted on course earnings. I was under the impression that they played for those and were given different prize totals based on their respective finishes. I.E.- they play a tournament (aka, competition), then are awarded various dollar amounts based on that finish. See the 2 examples below:

Took you long enough to get there! 😂 I believe Brooks got 100 of them at the PGA Championship this year. 🧐

And if OWGR points are truly the mark of a quality win, lets be sure to give a shout out to Yuvrav Singh Sandhu and his W at the BNI Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament. Surprising not to see him challenging at majors while several of these retirees have done so, even managed to win one (do we now call it 2 with Rahm??)!

Just giving you a hard time!! I’m no lover of LIV by any stretch, but i’m also not naive enough to say these guys can’t play. If lack of OWGR points makes you think otherwise, that is a fair argument to make!

These are the types of videos that really make you appreciate how ridiculous pros are. Sergio was always a shotmaker type so it's not surprising but it's still amazing to watch.

I am + golfer and couldn't hit half those shots Sergio is hitting. Like 140yd high cut long irons....then just deciding to hit it 220 carry with a sweeping draw later, and executing them all perfectly

It would have been amazing to watch Tiger do a video like this in his prime

Can’t give Sergio Bruce’s points.  And you can’t count a player a pro competitor if he’s not in the pro competition “ranks”.   They’re playing exhibition , no more no less.

Hey @bladehunter n @DoughBack18 You know there is already a thread where all these points have been made numerous times over and over again right?! 😂

JK. U guys do you! 😄

One day such a seamless argument will be made that everyone will agree, the heavens will part and the threads will all merge spontaneously

Until then, we have to try!

Gee,  I thought I started a thread about a YouTube video showcasing shotmaking & blades.

I take full responsibility for running it off the rails! Just doesn’t seem fair that the world class shotmaking is downplayed or flat out discredited because of reasons that have nothing to do with the golf being played.

Found it a worthwhile watch if you enjoy golf, nothing more, nothing less!

Comes down to how you define a professional athlete. I think by playing for prize money over the legal threshold, he is a professional. You think by playing on the PGA Tour or OWGR point receiving tour someone is a professional. 2 sides of the coin… ✌🏼

The beige box showing up when one drops the peace sign hand definitely needs to be addressed in the next update.

No, a proper WRXing of this thread would have been turning it into a debate about blades vs CBs.  I'm actually very disappointed in all of us that this thread has stayed civil for so long.

I woulda tried a lil harder to steer it further away from civility groch. But I’m like one example of “disguised profanity” away from a dirt nap here buddy.

Really enjoyed this video.  Some brilliant shotmaking on show.

For all his faults (and there are many), I still think Sergio's Masters victory is one of the greatest major wins of all time given the scar tissue he had built up over a long, underachieving majors career, and the sheer style in which he did it.  Hitting the pin on #15 and the two approaches to the 18th and playoff holes.  Wow.
