Vokey 60 degree - low bounce k vs v grind

The K* is noticeably easier to get under ball on tight lies compared to the V grind. The best way I can describe it is it's just fun to use.  It feels like there is no lie too tight around the green where you can't get under it.  I had one extremely short sided bunker shot that I used the K* for and got up and down.

 

On the other hand, my concern is how it will fair on full swing shots or square faced pitch shots from the fairway with such little bounce.  In my opinion, this is where the V grind shines. It sits close (although not as close as the K*) to the ground while open but still has plenty of bounce for full swing shots and square faced pitch shots. I haven't really gotten a chance to test this yet with the K*.

Thanks for the breakdown.  My only concern in on the full swings, square face like you mentioned.  I use my 58 for everything 90yds and in, so its a balance for me to have some relief on the full swings and the utility around the greens. I play a Zipcore mid grind in my 58 now, with some extra heel relief.  Great on full swings, ok around the green.  I used to use a Low bounce RTX4 for a while, awesome around the greens but too demanding on full swings for me.  I play in the MA/NH, fairly soft conditions and also have a semi steep swing. 

 

Have you ever used a Cleveland mid grind in a lob wedge?  How does it compare to the V grind Vokey?  They don't really look the same even thought the Cleveland mid grind is designed as a "v-sole"

I have not used a Cleveland wedge since the old CG10s.  I will say that I think the V grind is exactly what you are looking for. Having lived in Boston, I can attest to it being plenty of bounce for the fairways while still being able to sit low on tightly mown collection areas around greens that you may find in New England. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I am really enjoying the LBK Grind. It's a very versatile- and a weapon out of the bunker. I have tried D and M grinds but this really improves my confidence around the greens. Its pairs perfectly with my 54 bent to 13 bounce. 

 

I have been messing around chipping in my back yard and I am amazed by the feel with hitting different trajectory shots and patterns. 

 

If anyone is on the fence about it I'd definitely give it a try.
