In my eyes, the STg 440 looks like a cross between the TSr3 and TSr4. It sounds better, has the best qualities in looks between the Titleist drivers, and if set up correctly will preform just as well if not better. Thats just my take on it.

Hey man.  Speaking of set-up, where did you position your weights?  Just curious.

I’m still tinkering with them but so far both in the back at the fade setting is working well. If I move them up to the middle the spin is too low for me. I got some “dead duck” ball flights that way🤣

I have one weight heel side all the way front & the other is also heel side almost all the way back.  Has given me super consistent strike pattern what I call the hot spot (slightly toe side/slightly above center) just hitting rockets with it.

I feel the weights on this driver do the best job of any adjustable driver I’ve played in the past. You can really see results with small adjustments. My next round will be with the Ventus TR red so I’ll probably end up moving them up a little.

I think it’s a driver, if set up correctly for you can be a great driver like it is for me. I’m not a “fast” swinger…between 100-105 a little faster in season.

ST-G 220 vs ST-G 440....anyone out there do any extensive testing the two side by side? If so, is the 440 worth the upgrade? I do like the idea of a slightly smaller clubhead.

I’ve never tested the G-220…but the 440 is a magical club for me. I’ve seen a lot straighter drives for me and a lot more fairways hit with this set up. Another website has it listed as one of the top accurate drivers in their 24 driver testing

Been playing ping g430 lst since Middle of last season. I love it. Avg 278 with 40% fairways hit. Tried the g430 max 10k and no better dispersion and launched too high, lost distance and accuracy was not better. Going back to lst this weekend but because I have determined I hit the 440cc low spin  driver heads better I just ordered the stg 440. Cannot wait to try it.

I will play whatever club gives me tightest dispersion. If I am swinging well, distance is the last thing I need to worry about. Hitting fairways is key.  I am mizuno fan boy , so mizuno with get first dibs.  But I have to say the  lst is an absolute beast.  I clearly need to work on my swing to hit more then 40% of fairways and have to stop all the big misses.  Funny thing is the 10k max really didnt do anything different for me.  So clearly  my misses are just horrible swings that nothing could help.... I previously tried same deal.with mavrik sub zero and mavrik max ending up with sub zero till I tried the lst.  I am truly hoping the mizuno stg blows away the ping. I can easily sell both pings and fall in love with mizuno....it just had to be a little better then the ping.

It's funny I say I will give up distance for more fairways, logically yes, but I still bring out big stick whenever I can because its just so damn sexy to hit a bomb and make everyone I am playing with feel the heat. In fact I want to start teeing off first whenever possible just to put heat on my foursome.   I can see the effect, if I bomb a 290 yard drive and pipe it right down the middle those who follow cannot help but try a little harder.  We play skins every week so every little bit of advantage would help. In fact I want to start playing from blues because I am typically 20- 30 yards further off the tee ....

The STG continues to be a great driver for me. I haven’t hit the longest drives of my life with it “yet”, but continue to hit or just miss fairways everytime I play. I haven’t had a bunch of rounds with it this season due to work and sons golf schedule…but my season will ramp up in a week with my first tourney.

I tried stg 440 on range today with 1 bucket.

Define lyly feels really solid, but I can tell it's gonna take some getting used to.

I struggle with slice qhen I am iff but I could bot get this thing to slice at all.  Thw shorter length head and thw solid almost mixed around has me off.  I hit a couple really nice bombs but in thw draw setting 1 weight forward, 1 weight back I was getting hook and a few snap hooks.  I tried max  forgiveness on fadr side and still no fade.  I am testing this with tense av white 65x which works well qith ping g430 lst, but I feel.like thw miz needs a softer shaft. Gonna try the tense ck white 70s.

Also have aldilia rogue white 70s.

It came with a diaman m+ 50 stiff. I guess I will play around with shafts.

Not gonna be my gamer to I get setup right.  Thw ping g430 lst is a beast for me, so far don't feel.like miz is gonna suppling it.

Very nice looking club, but I do have one issue with it - to me, the logo at address is a bit distracting.  Def a personal thing though - have been meaning to try one of these out at my fitter!

Driver: Titleist GT3 9 degree with Ventus TR Blue 60 Stiff

Fairways:  Titleist GT3 4W and GT2 7W with Ventus TR Blue 70 Stiff

I think the looking sexy, very elegant and discrete. The sound is so muted gonna take some getting used to . I have no problem launching ping lst, buy 1 bucket qith mizuno and I definitely feel like it's much lower launching, spinning then the lst.  Gonna mess with different shafts, playing teis wed and thursday, too much money on line to break out miz till I get it dialed in.

Finally 'forced' myself to use the STG 440 for today's round... I had my trusty old 9015D with Kai'Li White in the bag , just in case - but am glad to say the Mizuno is fine.

It's now got the Kai'Li Blue 60TX shaft in it @ 44-1/2" playing length (and Bestgrips Microperf Midsize). Left the weights both towards the back... the head is the 9.5 degree, maybe the 10.5 would have been great too as putting the weights forward does seem to have major results. The hosel is also left in Standard for now (as I use reminder/rib it'll probably stay there as changing it moves the rib).

It wasn't just the good drives that impressed me today - but also the forgiveness on off centre strikes - a big improvement over the old Adams even at 20cc smaller head size... and not a single nasty hook all day with a tendency for fading which this recovering duck hooker appreciates.

Sound and feel is good, solid - certainly not loud or crashy... it's not better than the Adams, because that old thing is in my opinion the best sounding 460cc driver ever made, but the Mizuno sounds perfectly good and I get to keep playing the Kai'Li Blue which is lovely.

Another round on Thursday... and then it looks like the Mizuno STG will be coming with me for golf, beer and wine in suburban Chicago this coming weekend where i will resist temptation to even look at that TM mini driver... I once had the Burner Tour Spoon back in the old days

I wish the head was matte black like the ping, but I think I am going to wither play a round or a range session with the stg this week.

Gonna set it up at 7.5 in upright position and playground with weights.

The tense av white 65x is a stought shaft low spin low launch.

Also gonna play an old favorite,

Aldila rogue white 60 and 70s. Low spin mid launch.

He'll I might even try the adlila rogue white 60r.

My brother tried that shaft in the ping g430 10k max and said shaft felt whippy. I have about 10mph faster swing  then him so i a leaning to stouter tense shafts.

If none of these shafts feel right, I also have  another few tense shafts, ck white 7s and ck pro 70s.

I am really determined to get my driver settled and stick with one setup all season.  Finally made strategic decision to start resisting urge to hit driver when I do not need it.

I have the mizuno clk 2hybrid set to 14deg with tense Hhybrids

90s shaft.  Shaft us 1" long.  I absolutely crush that think, sat I hit it off tee three times on dog leg lefts. 1-217, 1 227, and q-231 all hit short grass. Second one was a little luck miss, was trying to start up right side and draw back to middle around corner. Ended up starting middle left with too high draw. Just cleared the trees and landed in left edge of fairway around the corner.  Could have been tragic if it drew anymore.  So with that kind of distance I can probable hit it off tthe two 4-6 times a round .

Depending on course layout.  Much less risk with that club.  The problem is I am in love with the monster drive.  Hitting it out to 280-320 yards really puts heat on skins opponents.

6 rounds in Chicago area with the STG 440 and i'm impressed. Really quite stunned how forgiving it was - had a few drives off the heel and they still held their line and didn't lose the distance you'd expect looking at the strike mark location.

I had a look around a PGA Tour Superstore and saw the ST Max also - that must be off the charts forgiving, and looks great for a 460cc max head - at address directly compared to the STG 440 is less flattering for the max, but on its own it's a decent shape.

They also had the STG Titanium fairways almost half price i think ($250?) but there was no stock at that Vernon Hills location.

Reviving this thread:

Has anyone struggled with too much spin with this driver?  I tend to be high launch high spin,  so maybe the ST-G 440 just isn't enough of a low spinner for me?

I can't tell if it's the head or the shaft as this has a Ventus Blue TR, which I've never used.

Compared to the Callaway Paradym TD, I'm seeing a solid 3 mph less ball speed and probably an average of 500-600rpm more spin.

ST-G 440 9.5 set to 7.5 with a  Ventus TR Blue 6x

Callaway Paradym TD 9* set to 8 with a Kai'li White 70x.

Well, you're a big hitter that could stand a tiny more forgiveness.....

I'm accurate with anything but could stand proper launch and more distance

I was thinking of the STZ 230 but this STG 440 has me intrigued.
Both are supposed to be low spin, correct?
But the 440 just is a little smaller, with weights, and with a more classic shape?

I've got both, and yes the shaping is smaller profile on the G vs the Z, with a smaller head and then a deeper face as well contributing to the smaller footprint.

I haven't tinkered around with the sliding track on the G yet, so I've just got them right back. I suspect the spin will drop right down if I put them forward.

From my experience the G feels noticeably less forgiving off toe and heel. I don't have any data to back this up, just that you definitely know when you have missed the sweet spot with the G head, even if the ball flight is still stable and spin stays on. Compared to the Z model it feels like you can hit it anywhere on the head and still feels ok.

I have a ST-Z 230 that I really like so....of course I just ordered an ST-G 440. The fact that these driver heads can be had on eBay for like $180 is absurd. How could I NOT? I mean it is just the cost of entertainment to try all these positions and see if it makes a noticeable difference:
