Nikon Coolshot Pro II Stabilized vs Bushnell Tour V6 Shift range finders

I'm trying to decide between the Nikon Coolshot Pro II Stabilized vs Bushnell Tour V6 Shift range finders.

Just wondering if anyone has strong opinions on one or the other.

I came from a Bushnell Tour and have the Coolshot Stabilized currently which I have used for years.  The Nikon is MUCH better in my opinion and it's not even close.

Have a first gen stabilized. Every once in a while mine is over in the cart and I use a buddies Bushnel, once you’re used to a stabilized view it’s tough to go back to that shaky view of the world.

Nikon Nikon Nikon. It will not be removed from my bag until a successor to the Z82 is put out and tested. It’s the best RF out imo.

The stabilize is a game changer.  Would not buy one without it.  So far, I only see Nikon and Tec Tec Tec use this feature.

I have the coolshot pro II and love it.  the image stabilization is fantastic.  Hits the pin no issue.

I got the Bushnell Tour V6 shift last year and love it. Very easy to lock on targets with excellent accuracy. No problems using it in drizzles either. I’m not familiar with the Nikon so can’t make any comparisons. It’s my fourth Bushnell purchased over many years and never had any issues. I sold two of my old lasers to friends and they still have them (and still working).

The Nikon has the Red display.   
 

I ended up buying the Nikon and I love it!

I just recently bought a cool shot pro 2 and I love it. It’s my second rangefinder, the first being a generic entry level one, and this is miles apart better. The display is super easy to see and bright, but adaptive to light conditions. The stabilized feature was the main reason I got it, it’s so much better than shaky life, just makes everything easier.

Does the Coolshot have a slope feature? Also, what about a magnet feature to attach it to a cart? My XE, sadly, has been acting up and it's basically Coolshot v Tour V6 shift if I have to buy a new one. I used my playing partner's V6 shift last week as my Pro XE was not working, and I thought it was great. And it has a magnetic feature that is perfect if you ride in carts which is all I do here in Singapore--the rules. I love the XE when it's working, but feel Bushnell is a bit suss on QC. This is the 2nd Bushnell product that has malfunctioned outside of warranty but way before its time. Wondering if Nikon is a better quality product?

No magnet but it does have a slope feature.

My Nikon lives in a magnetic strap mount and I slap it on the cart. Every now and then it might turn or wobble but I’ve never had it fall off or get lost. $30 on Amazon should sort you out with a variety of options.

I got a Nikon Pro Shot 2 a year ago and I have not been disappointed.  Agree with all the positive comments already mentioned and have not identified any short comings.

I've no experience with Bushnell or other non-Nikon brands these past few years so maybe this is nothing special. But my last couple battery changes (in Coolshot Pro II) have lasted a LONG time, it seems to me. I shoot the laser 20 or more times in a typical round and I've got to have close to 100 rounds on my most recent battery.

 

I'd have thought with the electromechanical servo in there doing the optical image stabilization, these rangefinders would be battery eaters. But I'm guess they get at least 2,500 shots, maybe more, on a cheap, generic Amazon lithium battery.

Me too on the Nikon.  Don't think I'd have anything else.  Image stabilization is great.  @Golfcrzy  Nikon custom service told me that it wasn't recommended to use a magnetic wrap on it.  Have you had any issues?  Think it may have had something to do with how the stabilization works?   Thanks

@larryd3 I had a magnetic wrap on mine. Made the stabilization go nuts. Not recommended.

I have them both. Already had the bush when I left it at home during a trip last year to Myrtle Beach. Didn’t want to not have a range finder on the course so I picked up the Nikon. One of the best mistakes I could have made. Love the Nikon. Used them for hunting and competitive 3D archery for years but it seemed like Bushnell owned the golf market so I chose it. The optics are better, the image stabilization is wonderful, and the size is fantastic if I just want to throw it in my pocket while walking. 
 

The V6 is a great ranger but IMO the ProII is superior.

In theory I agree with them - putting magnets near electronics isn’t a great idea - but in practice, it hasn’t been a problem at all. Bought mine in 2021 and still working great today.

Let me clarify even further - the one I got on Amazon has been on the Nikon for three years. Never removed. Ever. Not once. Probably not even to tighten it up or reposition it. Used 2+x/wk. over this period. Only changed the battery. Nothing else. Hth

Never had an issue with magnetic strap on Nikon, and I have and Nikons w image stabilization for 7 years.

 

PS.  TEC TEC TEC sells a magnetic strap for their device w image stabilization.

I have an old bushnell 3, thinking about an upgrade, just assumed the Tour6, but looks like this Nikon 2 got knocked down to $299.

 

It does look like the Nikon3 is out, but is the new one really worth $200 more? Probably not coming from an old unit….
