Is Wes going to get any PGA starts this year? Maybe Puerto Rico?

It seems like he is does not want to play on the KF Tour.

I'm a little surprised that winning a PGA Tour title almost 7 years ago still gives him starts on the PGA Tour.

https://www.sportskeeda.com/golf/news-i-m-extremely-content-pga-tour-golfer-youtuber-wesley-bryan-explains-decision-returning-korn-ferry-tour

The top 40 players at the PGA Tour Q School will earn full Korn Ferry Tour status, while the top five will get the PGA Tour card. Bryan's eyes are set on the tour card, as he's not interested in playing on the KFT.

He said, as per the Golf Channel:

"I’m extremely content playing the opportunities that I will get with my past champion status and if I play great, then I’ll have an opportunity to play a lot more, and if I play poorly, then the opportunity for YouTube is always there."
"I get a sponsor’s invite every single week I want to film. … Trying to grind it out making tens of dollars on the Korn Ferry Tour, it just doesn’t seem like a path at this point in my life I think I would take.”

A few. Tough to get them in the Priority Category he plays out of (Past Champions) as he ranks low within that category. He will probably get a couple sponsor exemptions. Try to Monday qualify. His best bet are the opposte field events. Though they may be tough to get.

I'm amazed GolfWRX hasn't created a Youtube sub-forum.  They are so far behind the times on this subject.  You could have threads for each of the popular YT peeps, with people sharing vids and discussing.  Seems a no-brainer.

I've got this one saved for this weekend, should be a good watch while it is raining outside.

if there was a YouTube sub the rest would dwindle way and the YouTube sub forum would have to be divided into Equipment, Tour Talk, etc.

Seems the growth of the game is people watching other people play on YouTube.

I really enjoyed the Golf-holics channel back in the day (and the original Good Good), but it's getting saturated.

I do like the Busta Jack, Bryan Bros, Mica/Grant collabs though.

were here for it and thats one of the reasons i enjoy their content.  george is a very good player and shows the tiers to talented golfers.  there may be 1 or 2 moments in a round where wesley  turns a bogey into a par and george turns a par into a bogey.  a few strokes separate them and a few strokes separates wesley from the worlds best.  its a fine line but its miles apart.  crazy when you think about it.

to follow up my post i just watched horvat and bryan bros new video.  front 9 at the WM scottsdale stadium course.  grant and george are hitting it pretty good, fairways and greens and both shoot 1 under.  wesley is all over the place off the tee and shoots 5 under.  im not talking light rough, hes in the desert, bunkers, etc.

This is what I like about their channel. Especially the earlier matches between George and Wesley. I think it helps to understand fractional shots watching them play each other. Wesley doesn't win every hole, but he's always just a bit better at everything and over the course of 9 holes it adds up.

I watch pretty much all of my golf on YouTube - but I'm not sure I would call myself a fan of most "YT Golfers."

I can handle a bit of Rick Shiels and a few other folks, but by and large most of the "YT Golfers" just talk waaaaaay too much. I would rather watch golf than listen to dudes talking about golf.

Get rid of the chatter, and this Rahm video could be condensed down to about 30 minutes - people got stuff to do.

For a lot of years I found an ebb and flow when it came to YouTube. The content used to be mostly informative, and the high time of old school YT was club release time, and all the reviews that followed. I would always follow closely the reviewers that similar swing charatistics to me. No with the onset of Bryan Bries and Grant and Micah, YT more heavily on entertainment side. Which I like because it’s basically golf entertainment on demand. I definitely gravitate towards certain creators because of my age and taste. Some I used to like but they have evolved into cringworthy at best (for me)

I definitely feel the same way.  The Bryan Brothers' content has been really good lately.  Been fun to see them in their golf course endeavor too to see what's necessary to take a course that has been run down/abandoned and bring it back to playing condition.

However, If I hear "Let's Go" one more time, I'll vomit.  Feel the same way about the other channels too.  A phrase that is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

Is Wesley's wedge/short game that elite?  Rahm and a few other guests have commented that he is one of the best in the world with his hands.  Is he that good, or is it just hyperbole for the show?

When he was regular on tour, his strokes gained approach inside 100 yards was pretty close to the top I think. Yes his wedge game is elite. Short game is pretty solid too. His putting when he's on is insane, but recently he keeps bouncing between the armlock and not and he's kind of variable. His driving is a pretty glaring weakness at the moment, but he still manages to post some pretty darn solid scores. He's Monday Q'd at least once and that is not easy.

If I’m not mistaken his best year on tour he led the tour in wedge stats. He’s world class with a wedge/putter. Tee ball has always been what holds him back but also what makes him fun to watch. He’s never really out of a hole no matter how bad the tee shot. For me the big difference between him and George is confidence. Wesley knows and expects he can hole a chip or bunker shot or 30 foot putt when it counts.

Not sure if his short game is "elite" on the PGA tour. But from what I have seen from YouTube and PGA tournaments, he has an extremely good short game and putting.  Just my couch surfing opinion.
