I picked up distance, so that was nice. But the hooks are killing me. So I’m going back to the Moe pattern of leg action. Over the years, every time I get away from the pattern in some way, it turns out badly. Or requires band aids to keep it together.

The bent lead leg really tightens up the dispersion; I’ve seen that before. It seems to lock down the clubface.

Curious. If you ever video yourself to see what the root cause is?

I've been a SPS with Graves for 4-5 years now but now I'm more or less evolved it to my own. Seen Junge's stuff but it never worked out as I "feel" the patterns of Moe/Graves works much better for me. But I was going to say whether it is Moe, Junge, Jack or any swing, it is always about sequence. You cannot get away from that. All this bent lead knee, right foot down at impact etc helps but it will lead to hook or right push if you don't properly sequence

Hence, sequence -- which you can only spot in a video of your swing. I do that. I find I have a lazy hip. I have to really allow my hip to drop my upper body triangle which bring my hands in front, it solves my sequence issue. Think of upper triangle silent until you RELEASE the krap our it to smoke the shot

Just throwing it out there but video feedback is a MUST especially nowadays our Samsung & Apple are SO GOOD with SLO-MO

Good stuff, I enjoy reading your journey into SPS, keep at it and YES it is a swing that will give you distance and accuracy

Yes, and it’s usually enlightening. I did not make a video this time because I saw the problem in a mirror. We shall see.

I always had this super farfetched theory that Moe's lower body action was inspired by Byron Nelson and Gene Littler at the Masters when he played there as an amateur in 1956 and 1957.

Byron was still playing with the 54 hole leader as an old tradition back then and Gene Littler was prominent at the time as a former US Amateur champ.

Byron had his left knee move where he didn't really straighten it in the downswing and kept it flexed through impact and Littler's right heel stayed on the ground until late in his follow-through. You can see a combo of both moves in Moe's swing. Like I said, super farfetched theory. But it's cool to think about history in golf.

Another note on Moe - in his younger days, he would take it all the way to the P4. I know with Graves, he only teaches to P3. May be, at the time, when Todd was learning, that was the limit from an aging Moe. But still - he had a lot of power from the P3 stop.

Now, if you didn't know Moe or SPS or Axis swing at that position, it looks like any classic PRO swing

I also love the fact his left arm is golfer straight instead of silly-dead straight.
