Share your current swing thought/feels

I only have a swing thought (or sometimes thoughts) in my one practice swing. None during the actual swing - only breathing.

Currently "width"

Lately, well.... I'd say my thoughts have been more "This isn't going to work...." LOL!!! Self sabotage at its best.

In working through that awful thought I've refocused on my setup and the start of the takeaway.

 

Thought #1: "Left elbow toward the target"
Thought #2: "Right Elbow toward the hip."

 

What I have found at least in front of the net is it has helped me gain more consistency in the "ground strike" point. Previously it was wild as a crazed Grisly Bear; I was all over the map. I was trapped in the old "My practice swings are great, but when a ball is there everything feels different."

Hence the "This isn't going to work" feel through the process. That's a dead indicator of lacking confidence when my back brain know it isn't going to work, and front brain just panics. 😄 

 

My hope is, this helps me work through my recent problems and get back to my pre October form..... That whole "Swinging without a ball" thing could have worked if I structured it better; but it didn't and I ended up ruining the whole thing.

I had flaws before but man.... I could have lived with them and worked through as I played....

Currently working on increasing ground force torque versus vertical force.  I come from a jumping sport background (hoops, volleyball, skateboarding) - so jumping is a bit ingrained in me.

 

Current thoughts are "use torque to accelerate the chest".

 

Secondary thought is to try to throw the club like forehanding a frisbee to keep the face open and use my chest rotation to square it (kind of a Cameron Champ Move)

I always hit my irons the best when I visualize hitting them over trees that I know I can barely just clear. Any horizontal or rotational feel bogs me

Irons: Sending divots in the direction of my intermediate point. 
 

chips: using the appropriate momentum to cut grass in the direction of my target 

 

Driver: Deploying the club head w heavy momentum over my intermediate point 

 

Putting: Allowing momentum to pour the putt into the center of the cup

Hit down and through the ball:

 

1)Avoid topping or skulling the ball

2)Hit it straight with average distance per club

 

If I want to play a draw or fade, I will change my setup, not my swing.

My current swing thought is "ma la baa".

 

Each sound is associated with a movement that I am trying to ingrain into my backswing and through swing.  Surprisingly the movements that I associate with each sound are showing up in a positive way on video.  Not perfect but better.   LOL it is a lot easier to say "malabaa" while swinging then it is to use swing thoughts or keys or whatever you want to call them while swinging.  Allows me to trust the motion and get on it with it while feeling under pressure. 

 

Stuff like this has never held up very long in the past so time will tell if this is the real deal.  A large part of the equation is that I am working on improving my pelvis movement per my video lesson from @MonteScheinblum and I feel like I'm practicing the same correct movements every day.   I have practiced stuff diligently in the past but often it was useless swing methods that did not address the central problem.
