Aftermarket/Graphite Putter Shafts

Hi all,

 

In typical WRX fashion, I want to try/buy all the putter shafts available. 

 

Have you guys got any recommendations on what shafts are out there?

I currently have putters with:

• KBS GPS
• UST All-In
• Stability Carbon
• Stability Tour
• Accra FX

 

Still want to try:

• LA Golf
• Fujikura MC

Good ole trusty, I do still love my CT Tour.  What was your experience with the LA soho?  I was trying some LAB putters recently both with the stock shaft and Accra upgraded and I felt the difference in the firmness of the Accra which I quite liked and made me really consider one of these fancy shafts.

I have it in my toulon Las Vegas firstly took me a while to get used to the swing weight change but if you are after firm then the soho will be right up your alley. Ive gone back to the CT tour for now as I prefer a bit more feel.

There’s also the stability one and VA composites is coming out with two of them, the vylyn and baddazz. The VA’s have some wild graphics so I’m sure that will put some people off.

I was curious enough about the Carbon Mac shaft that I ordered one online. Got the purchase confirmation and order number in an email, then nothing. Their email adress bounces, my wife has contacted them for me both through their Instagram and Facebook accounts (I’m not on there myself), and still nothing.

 

Seems like a good shaft, but can’t really recommend them at this very moment. 🙃

 

UPDATE: Got ahold of them! If anyone is interested, I can give my thoughts once I have the shaft in my putter.

Would love to give them a whirl, but my fitter said LAB have exclusive rights to the TPT putter shaft. Not ready to get a LAB yet haha.

The Vylyn is what I have my eyes firmly set on, but keen to try either!

Anyone have any thoughts on what you think is the best value option??  I'm sure it's been discussed, but these things vary hugely in price (just like a driver shaft), but it seems like they have less of an impact as you go up in price.

Keen to try the TPT, pity it's only available when purchasing a LAB at the moment.

Still also want to get my hands on the VA Vylyn.

Got my Carbon Mac shaft a couple weeks ago, but forgot to update this thread. Feels very nice so far, I have a good feeling about it!

There's an Ebay seller that often offers the GPS for $120 with free delivery. I bought one a few months ago. The other day, I added one to my watch list, and received the $120 offer the next day.

We really need some performance testing of these shafts.  A same head, same grip, different shaft comparison to measure dispersion, distance control, and specs from a SAM putt lab or quintic.  
 

While the kbs might be a good value option, is it better than a steel shaft?  How do we know?

Believe Cool Clubs has done some testing like that, on a robot too.

My 2 cents, arguable that they are better than steel. I am putting with a Toulon Garage Tour with a steel shaft and putting it better than any of my putters with graphite at the moment.

 

In true WRX fashion though, I am planning to put a graphite shaft in it anyway.

Forget LA Golf ... but of those, the TPT is the only one that you know is perfectly round and to spec - it is entirely machine made. Having used it in a LAB DF3 on the practice green for the last week, I like it. Worth it? I like equipment to spec. If you are willing to spend on LA Golf, get the TPT if you want a LAB putter.

Have tried a bunch and owned three putters with graphite shafts — Accra, Stability Tour and Fuji MC. The Fuji MC in X-Firm is my favorite but overall I still prefer steel. I think switching to graphite in a putter is mostly a feel preference more than a performance game changer. Some of the graphites that are described as stable feel lifeless to me. Steel feels solid and connected. I didn’t notice a change in putting stats with the composite shafts.
